Install pics of Glovebox CD changer (part number 8E0035111D) in B6 S4.

1st I bought a single din tray from here for the changer to sit in.

Measured up what had to be removed from the tray and cut excess off.

As shown below, the tray sits very nice in the top of the glovebox.
Note, its sitting nearer the middle of the glovebox, as I wouldve needed to cut more off the tray to get it past the bit that sticks out next the airbag switch bit (if you know what I mean!), where the changer would sit in the proper glovebox. Also with the taper on the side of the tray there would be a gap anyway, so took the easy way out with less cutting, and it means theres a space for my phone charger as seen in a few pictures down! It also fits in well with the partition on the top-left bit as well, so your not losing anything for the top left compartment.

I had to cut the back of the glovebox to get the changer fully in, so measured up rear of changer and cut. I made it pretty neat, so the hole actually secures the rear of the changer in place as well.

Drilled and bolted tray to roof of glovebox and fitted changer.

I got the changer cable from Glasgow Audi, (part number 8EO 051 592B). My original and preferred method of wiring was to plug the connections into connector 1 of the cars loom, but couldnt manage to do that for some reason, (think it was different pins, dont know why!). So ended up just disregarding the CD changer wires from the Plug'n'Play connector (connector B) and plugging the audi lead straight into the PnP. Also scotched locked the ground wire of the changer lead onto D12 of the PnP.

Plugged the PnP back into the RNS-E and could hear the changer firing up! Everything works fine, my unit mustve been coded for changer beforehand as the option was there on the CD menu before I installed the changer.

Its working great, job done and all for £4!

(Sorry for the quality in some of the pics, they were alright before I reduced them!)

Nice write-up mate! Excellent install. I assume you had to pull the RNS-E out to plug the adapter in? I've had the glovebox out of my A3 8P and wondered if you could reach anything at the back of the RNS-E without removing it.

I installed the RNS-E the week before so I didnt fully push it into place, as I knew I had to remove it again anyway to plug everything in and tidy up the wires, couldnt be bothered farting about with the keys again!

Only problem with the cd changer sitting roughly in the middle, is Ive got a dvd player now to fit and theres not room for the both of them to sit side-by-side, but Ive got a cunning place to put it, watch this space....!!!

Underneath the front passenger seat???

Nah Ive got a ultra slim DVD player off ebay that will sit just nicely in the owners manual pocket, below the steering wheel!

Just need to find a Multimedia adapter and preferrably find somebody in Scotland that can do VIM coding, hint hint!!!

Heres a picture of it, Ive just placed it in there, so not installed it yet!

Tractorman,
Thanks for the excellent shots of the 6 CD changer into your glovebox.
I take delivery of a 2007 A4 very shortly, and have been offered a CD changer identical to yours. Do you know if this fit directly to the latest model or would i have to follow your route?
Thanks in advance (Ps where did you buy the cradle) for the changer?

Regards M30RCK

I would imagine that you would have the standard glovebox like mine if there is no CD changer from factory fit. So you would need to do the same method as me.
There is a link to where I got the single din bracket at the top of my original post, only £4 and think came the next day or so!
I got my changer off Ebay for £150 as well, so all in all a fairly cheap and easy retro, and currently no probs!

Know this is somewhat late for a question but I am just about to install a glovebox cd changer in my A4 - I have recently retrofitted an RNS-E. Could Tractorman (or anyone else) confirm the cd changer part number please (think it is the 8E0 035 111D)? Also, assume the cable 8EO 051 592B plugs directly into the cd changer and the 'blue' PnP slot on the rns-e? Please would someone confirm that I do not need a separate cable from the cd changer to the adapter cable.
Thanks

If anyone is interested i am selling my CD Changer which is identical to tractorman's, i want £120, Can also provide the glovebox which is made for the cd changer for an extra £30. And even better the glovebox has the "quattro" alluminium emblem. Heres some pics :

Also have a few other bits on there too.

Hi I'm new to Audi, and I've just picked up and 03 plate A4 convertible on Saturday :yahoo:. However its doesn't have the glove box changer (which i want) but it does have the original FF sat nav option. I'm guessing the 8E0 035 111D cd changer will fit (the glove box has the section for it already) but what sort of cableing do i need?

I have picked up the same tray, cd changer and cable to fit into my a3. I have trial fitted the changer into the tray, but do I need a metal cage for the cd changer to slide into to fit it securely as there seems to be a small amount of movement if it just sits in the plastic moulding, even with the spring clips on either side of the changer. Did anyone else notice this/have a similar issue? I appreciate this is an old thread..

thanks,

Andrew.

Can anyone give me a new link to order the carrier for the glovebox changer please? :detective2:

Great - nice one Ned. If I win the autochanger, Halfods will be my next port of call! :rockwoot:

Not sure if you can upload docs. Could you forward me the doc? Email link is in my profile.

A,U,D,I - I - I LOVE IT!

your signature pic looks like an a4 so i guess my writeup wouldn't be much use as mine is for an a3?!

Well depends what the write up shows I guess... does it show cabling? The changer is the same, ad I assume most of the cabling is the same. Did you have the changer cabling behind the glove box ready to be connected? of did you need to dos some re-cabling like Tractorman had to?

I had to run the cable from rear of head unit (concert single slot cd) which was an easy job. I bought the keys to pop out the head unit from halfords. If you have the satnav or a newer head unit you might need an mmi cable and cd changer unit. The connectors on the back of the head units are different depending on age of car and type of head unit. If in doubt ring audi with your head unit part number and they should be able to check cable and cd changer compatibility for you and advise/check part numbers etc. For the cable I rang and gave them both the head unit and changer part number and 2 working days later it was in. Cable came with simple diagram showing which pins to push the wires into on the rear of the head unit multiplug and has the right connector to go straight onto the cd changer. Easy to feed behind the dash to the rear of the cd changer. My only comment would be don't turn on the ignition when the glovebox multiplug is disconnected as this will throw the airbag light on if you've got the passenger disable switch in the glovebox as it will break the circuit. if you leave the ignition off until refitted it should be fine. This is what i did.
Hope that all makes sense...

great article.just what I needed.have connected cd changer as above into concert radio.the cd changer fires up and loads, but when pressing the cc/cd button, a message no tape appears and cd appears not to be recognised.Ant ideas,do I need to reconfigure ?.How do I do this as there are no instructions on how to apart from the paper it came with saying may need to configure with VAS 5051.
please help
thanks
Andrew

Having bought the cd changer for my a4 B6 I was hoping to get a proper glovebox from e-bay to accept the cd changer but cannot find one so it looks like I will be modifying my old glovebox

Anybody done this mod recently can link to a plastic din tray for the cd changer to fit in (the link above is out of date and the part is no longer available)

Or got a glovebox to sell

I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this and to what effect?

Or, if anyone has a CD changer sized glovebox they would like to swap for my non-changer one and cash?

In the end I just converted my glovebox to accept the cd changer it was by far the easier method and there was nowt on ebay for Sale apart from a dodgy Lithuanian jobby.

Yeh I'm sure they're few and far between. Did you do it like this one? Where did you get your single DIN cage from?

Hi. I realise this is an old thread but anyone got some info on AV Adapters as I got an Rnse and want to link in my reverse camera. I have an Audi glovebox cd changer that I don't intend using if anyone up for a swap
