Right guys after new year I'm going to be doing a turbo conversion I work in a garage so labour an fitting isn't a problem got people in their that have more knowledge an will help me out, I'm already running stage 1 Revo with no mods an have made 222bhp, I'm looking for around 260-280bhp as it will be used as an everyday car but want to have that power their for when messing bout with mates etc, what would people recommend the ko3 hybrid or do the ko4 conversion? Engine has done 88,000 fsh from Audi so all is in good health need some good advice please guys new to this forum thing
cheers.

Ko4 needs manifold injectors fuel pump maff etc and a map with adfee bits to it

Same hybrid manifold depending if you get your one ported by badger 5 or who ever you choose,

Both conversion. Are but of work
Just don't get corners

But hybrid turbo bout 650 ish
And just do research 1st like running etc look through threads on here and the google it

Then saying you want 280bhp etc the work that goes into thst Isnt just plugged.play

Okay see I've been offerd everything for the ko4 coverslip. Manifold turbo oil pipes downpipe maf injectors the lot for £500 just wanted to see wether taking on the ko4 would be worth it in the long run, as I was going to get Fmic, 007 valve, turbo back exhaust, 4 bar fuel regulator an then a map on what I'm currently running but was told really before I get the map done I should change the turbo ko3 hybrid seems a little less hassle though

To be honest mate, as you've not done any mods on your ko3/s yet, and labour isn't an issue, I'd definitely go down the ko4 route.

There are ko3 based hybrids that will get you similar power, but by going down the ko4 route, you've got scope for more power down the line in the form of a hybrid. And you've also got the chance of cheap replacements should Anthony go wrong, rather than shelling out on a hybrid.

Plus you can fit a proper 3" TIP which is very tricky on a ko3 framed hybrid.

Who's Anthony? And why would he go wrong? :)

I agree with Prawn. (Sorry Dan!)

Very good power can be had out of a k04 and it is easier to replace/upgrade as and when you need to.

I mean to get it all running lets say all I need is just the ko4 turbo oil lines manifold, injectors, maf, an a map right? So really what I've been offerd I should go ahead with an get it done then an forget about the hybrid? Also are their Amy threads that have done the ko4 conversion so I can get some help as last thing I want to do is miss something out,

hybrid unless you pickup a "complete" k04 setup inc downpipe, intake etc etc etc for "great price" known working 100% ok

You'll need a downpipe of some description as well, and a TIP.

I had a k04 conversion done in my thread, and in the Leon thread (Both in my sig)

Prawn also has a k04 conversion, but mine is easier to find as his thread is massive. Look around late July early August this year in my thread.

don't forget k04 will need FMIC at the time of conversion, shorten or double up the loom for TB, IAT and MAP sensors, K04 boost pipes and either modify heater matrix pipes or get some from k04 car inc metal hardpipe.

thats as well as everything else mentioned above, don't overlook the little things either like turbo stablizer bracket, dv / n75 pipes - crank / cam cover breather pipes, additional heatshielding and various other bits and bobs.

so much more to k04'ing than turbo / mani / lines and DP - best to do research on what you'll have to buy to complete the swap and decide if you think it's worth it.

you haven't driven one of the k03 hybrids , how would you know:)

I know that the k04 makes similar power with less hassle, and a replacement k04 is cheaper then a replacement k03 :)

I'll have to have a go in a hybrid before I have an unbiased opinion. (hint, hint)

I think the decision is based on what existing mods there are on k03 install... and how manu of them you can reuse on k04.. (dp, TIP etc)
If cars not got enough mods for hybrid, it wont have enough mods for K04 either (fmic, exhaust etc)

If planning for more at a later date, then k04 framed unit will have more to give, than the k03 cousin, BUT, if 280bhp s your end game, a K03 hybrid can tick that box.

horse for courses...

Dude.

Stop, collaborate and listen.

Dan is back with my brand new invention (K04 TFSI hybrid conversion lol)

Something grabs a hold of me tightly (more power!!)

Flows like a harpoon daily and nightly (it's all about the flow)

Word.

I heard you just buy a K04 cold side and just put the whole CHRA into the K03 hot side. Must be true, it was on Audizine?

Ok . But i hear that they put drffrent compressor wheel

What are you actually asking? are you asking so you can buy one and make your own hybrid or asking so you know what you are actually getting when buying a hybrid?

K03 hybrids typically have a K04 (from a 210/225) compressor wheel (and I believe the turbine as well in some cases)... these run to around 260/270hp typically.. there are other types of hybrid available buts suitability at the end of the day and end power is VERY dependant on supporting mods like a decent FMIC, exhaust, ported exhaust manifolds etc...

Best bet is to talk the beach buggy as he is the resident supplier of all things upgrade wise for K03/K04 turbos...

Would be easier if you stated your power aims...

Maybe instead of being a sarcastic pain in the ****, you could post helpful advice for the guy

Haha, what a hero.

I refuse to spoon feed people information on technical matters where the questions asked dictate an apparent lack in ability to follow through with the information given; if he doesn't know what wheels to use he doesn't know how to build a hybrid.

So he will be purchasing it from a third party, so his question should be directed at the seller of the hybrid he wishes to purchase after research and consideration.

Had the OP of said "which wheel is best for a K03 hybrid?" Or "what are the differences in wheels and how will they effect my build?" Then I could have advised with an informative post. But the question is so broad and unfocused that a definitive and relevant answer isn't possible.

Simples.

Looks like Tuffty managed it just fine?

What can I say, Paul is just generally a better person than me. Happy now?

If you are going to get the hump with the kind of posts within this thread then the internet isn't for you. Standard forum banter IMO.

Take your moral superiority complex and jog on elsewhere; if I annoy you that much then go to the settings bar and click ignore.
