What size spacers did you get? Also don't forget to buy some new longer locking bolts :)

Did you end up buying some window clips as I bought 8 by mistake if you need a couple? I will be fitting mine tomorrow along with the new buckets when they arrive.

I have gone for 10mm on the front and 20mm for the rear for the RSTT wheels. bolts are sorted :icon_thumright:
I have got my window clips here, let me know how you get on! Make sure you get some pics up of the seats once they are in!! What harnesses are you going for?

Cheers mate, I paid a little bit more than that and it was built on the car. I think it sounds lovely, sounds exactly like the you tube clip if you can get that to work. Am tempted to get some cupra r wheels like yours but not sure how they would look on a blue s3.....

Nice work mate, the car is looking good. I had a similar dilemma with my RSTT's and ended up going with gunmetal grey powdercoated which has made me like the wheels again :)

Think cupra r wheels would look pretty good if they were silver!

The only thing i dont like about them is they are only 7.5J. Although mine have 215s on them, defo putting 225s on them when i need new tyres.

Thanks! Would you be able to post up a picture of your wheels if you have one as im interested to see the finish?

Hmmmmm, yer the RSTT's are 8J i believe and with the spacers fill the arch nicely. Got a few weeks to decide as its not the best time of year to be refurbing my wheels in this weather.

Was messing around with the camera and managed to get a few good shots of the car in its present state. Front and rear of the car are how i want them now. Brakes and wheel set up are my current areas of research and improvement at the moment.

Right a quick update, I had the day off work so me and my mate managed to fit my front and rear wheel spacers, 12mm front and 20mm rear. I also changed the front discs as mine were cracked and warped and replaced the pads with a set of ebc red stuff
As the car was up in the air was worth doing the oil and filter change as well. Really pleased with the look the spacers have given the car. Anyway heres a few pics.

Looks awesome mate.

Cheers, Heres another angle of how the spacers look. Much happier with the look now.

Managed to scan the car for fault codes and only had one which i was reasonably happy with. New sensor ordered and being installed on wednesday. :rockwoot:

Right a couple of months have passed, so a quick update as have done a few bits. The boost pressure valve which flagged up in the fault reading above was replaced and the car is now fault free. Firstly the car had its mot and flew straight through with two new tyres advised for the front so i was chuffed with that. I managed to have a good look around under the car at the test center and i was pleasantly surprised at the condition which was a nice bonus. Next up was the dreaded road tax. Then i slapped on the jetex filter and heat shield to compliment the Samco TIP. I have also sanded down the RSTT's and tidied them up a little bit in time for gti international. Currently am getting all the paintwork up together and using poor boys ultra deep shine and nattys paste wax. Anyway here's a few pics.

You do understand what this code means right?... I would say you have replaced your N249 for nothing bud... this code is related to when the ECU uses the N249 valve to operate the dump valve as it has seen an issue and needs to dump boost... the mechanical failure indicates you either have done an N249 bypass so the ECU can no longer dump boost anyway or your dump valve is ineffective and the ECU hasn't seen the boost drop its expecting so it throws this code...

As you have a baileys DV I would imagine this is the issue... would have been better off just replacing it with an OE dump valve tbh...

The fault code won't come back until the next time the ECU needs to try and dump boost...

If the N249 was faulty its normally an electrical reason and would come up as open circuit or short to earth etc..

<tuffty/>

Cheers mate, its slow but steady progress getting the car to how i want it as and when i have the spare cash and time. But one thing is for sure i am enjoying my first German car.

Tuffty,

When i scanned the car for fault codes this was the only one to pop up. As im still learning my way around the 1.8t engine i thought i best nip upto my local garage where they advised me to replace the sensor. I did this and the fault has not reappeared. I still have my oem valve in the garage so if it does appear again in the future i will switch them back over.

Cheers

Normally the only reason the ECU needs to intervene like this is due to an over boost situation... this points to other problems... its one of those fault codes thats a symptom rather than a cause if you see what I mean...

What does your boost spike to on spool?

Yeah i understand what you are saying. I will be using the car this evening and giving it a good run to football and back so i will give it another scan when i get back, i recon your right and the code will re appear.

My boost guage reads 22-23 psi max boost.
I havent run vag com or anything as of yet, still a newbie really, but happy to learn and take advice.

Cheers
Adam

Quick update, i purchased some new wheels this week so on the way back from gti international i picked them up. They are immaculate with new tyres and there is not a scratch on them which i am chuffed with. Locking wheels nuts will arrive tomorrow so will update when the wheels are on the car. SO EXCITED!! :arco:

Thanks Justarn appreciate the comments. Next job on the car will be replacing the dog bone bushes with the powerflex red ones. They turned up today with a complimentary keyring and stickers, not bad for £20 :o.k:

Look sick man!!!:icon_thumright:

Thats the exact rim I was considering changing mine to!

Cheers! Im pretty chuffed with them tbh. I think wheels are definitley what can make or break your s3 when it comes to looks.
My choice was a throw up between these, oz super l's or 18" avus wheels.
I think i picked the right ones for my colour / theme.

Thats the one Pal. People only get excessive vibrations due to tightening the center bolt up too tight. Its upto you mate, ive got solid steep bushes and poly bushes all over and love my car but some people find it harsh. Its whatever your comfortable eith.

Just ordered one up :salute:
Would prefer them all to be replaced for piece of mind to be honest especialy as the dog bone will have to come apart and off the car anyway. Thanks for the advice.

Car is looking great Adam, what did you do with your RSTT's?

Cheers JNP. I did advertise them on here but didn't get much interest so i put them on ebay and they sold. If i had known you may have been interested i would have offered them to you for a good price as your from the forum and i see you live local to me.

Postman dropped off a couple of packages over the weekend. Hopefully will fit one evening this week if its dry after work!
Fingers crossed the dog bone wont be a pain in the *** as i opted for the bushes instead of the ecs tuning kit so we shall see.

No worries mate, I was away at the time of you posting about your new wheels so I would never have got back to you in time :)

Glad to hear you sold them anyway as it always helps the conscience when splashing out on some shiney new ones!

Looks like i need to continue my search then ay!

Right a quick update after this weekend. I had previously tried to restore my headlights myself which worked well short term however some of my girlfriends friends opened a body shop in gosport this month so they tackled my headlights and WOW im chuffed! Only took them an hour. Gave the rest of the car a quick polish and the pics are below. I have replaced my split intercooler pipe but have the tricky one behind the drivers side headlight to tackle tomorrow evening. Next few jobs are polybushing the dogbone mount and painting the callipers, thinking of going for yellow.
