due to Milltek exhausts being somewhat of a problem child i am slightly wary of splashing out £1000 on one of their exhausts, however word on the street is that if you are the orignial purchaser they come with a lifetime warranty..
is this a load of rubbish is that that infact the case?

true if your the original owner and can prove it. i.e. your receipt.

+ maybe in extreme cases they may want to see that it was fitted properly.

Interesting googling;

Milltek Sport Performance Exhausts

Is my exhaust system covered by a guarantee or warranty?

As long as you are the original purchaser, cat-back exhaust systems are covered by an anti-corrosion and manufacturing defect warranty and hi-flow sports catalysts and downpipes are covered by a 2 year or 80,000km warranty. We do not cover against any modifications made to our product after it has left our factory and also not for unusual use of the parts - for example, the use of Nitrous Oxide (NOS), damage caused by going over a speed bump too fast etc. Our warranties are offered on the understanding that the cars power maybe increased by up to 33% from its original specification. Modifications made to increase the power beyond this will render the warranty void.

So 2 year warranty unless you go stage2+ or higher then you get nil warranty as ~355bhp would be a 34% increase....

I took the ~355bhp from Revos stage 2+ graph.

EDIT:
Although it does say lifetime guarantee on here;

Milltek Exhausts | Milltek Exhaust Systems - Demon Tweeks

But mentions nothing of power increases

it reads: "Milltek have so much confidence in their product they are able to offer a conditional lifetime guarantee on their product for the original purchaser."
thats enough to cover their asses :detective2:

A local dealer to us and he is a good friend of mine, James Prosser ---->Prosser & Gibbs | Just another WordPress site

Behind the petrol station by the Bank House Hotel, Bransford

If you want a price, I'll talk to him.

Full System I take it?

But i need to know what you require? 100 cell, 200 cell, de-cat?
ah cool man that would be sweet, full system yes however i wouldn't want the hassle of a de-cat, i take it that the 100 cell is louder than the 200?

100 cell is less restrictive....I wouldn't say louder than a 200 cell.

I bought a used Milltek TBE Resonated system from a forum member last year.
After a couple of months the resonated box failed at the welds.

Mindful of their `non transferable` warranty I called Milltek anyway to ask for some goodwill contribution on the basis this was premium market leading product that had only done 30K miles regardless of whether it had been transferred blah..blah.

Anyway, the upshot was they agreed to send me a replacement resonated box FOC saving me £195.

So hats off the Milltek who addressed this qualiy issue in a helpful and professional manner.
Having quality issues is one thing but putting it right they way they did says a lot for the company IMO.

Also experienced some really noticable gains after the exhaust went on so can certainly say its a worthwhile mod.
The resonated system is not that much louder than OEM so if you want the noise then defo go no-res.

PS - Mine is coming off after the New Year and will be available cheap cheap....

I had a weld fail on the bracket which holds the exhaust in place under the car. I think it scraped on one of those speed humps which is a giant pad in the centre of a lane of traffic. I took pictures of the failed weld and contacted the original supplying dealer. A replacement was ordered and fitted at no charge, this was probably 4 -5 years after it was originally installed on a car which exceeds their power increase limit.

Very happy with the exhaust and the lifetime warranty.

Have to admit I have always been in two minds about going Milltek as there seems to be quite a few horror stories about quality seeming to slip, hearing examples of good customer service like this persuades me to go with them.

But then something like the above crops up - did they say why your claim was rejected S.?

i don't know, maybe the shipping cost was too much, maybe the shop let me down on it. after i got it fixed and reinforced i never bothered again to go to the shop, as i've changed tuner.

Mine had one weld fail on the rear box at 4 yrs and 100% over stock power.

Replaced under warranty with no questions or problems.

Good enough for me.
