Hello all, just a quick brief for those who don't know.. My car requires a new head gasket and turbo. I have decided to take these jobs on myself as a friend of mine has done many of head gaskets and timing belts so I might aswel go for it! I basically just need abit of an idea of parts I need when doing these jobs.. So for example with the turbo I need the new turbo of course but I also need to do the oil return pipe.

now when doing the turbo does anything else need replacing?

as for the head gasket, what needs to be changed when doing it? Baring in mind I'm doing my water pump and Cambelt at the same time. (For example head bolts or are there other seals?)

Thanks!

If I was in your shoes I would have head reconditioned/skimmed maybe even your oil pump replaced but not sure if its an issue with your engine are you sure your head is ok and not cracked or porous I would get a gasket for everything you remove such as the intake.

Yeah I was thinking about that but it's never overheated or anything. And thanks ill take that into consideration! Just such a hard decision as once the heads off ill be doing the Cambelt and turbo as I say and if the head is cracked it'd be a massive joke for the price :-/ but there's no hiding from the truth I suppose, it'd only go wrong down the line another time. has your cylinder head ever cracked mate?

I have never had a head crack on any of my cars but if the history of the car is a bit sketchy anything could have happened in its past hopefully its just the gasket though

big job to set back up injectors need to be set correctly. also u will need new injector seals (not cheap) new injector bolts as well.

make sure u get head pressure tested and skimmed.

better of paying someone to do it to be honest.

My mates dads a mechanic and i think hes helping out too, we should be fine! but yeah i need to get the head tested etc. what companys are good for this?

I've got a new turbo for sale boxed.

Really is a big job to tackle, especially as (please don't take this the wrong way) you are asking what parts need to be replaced. There are also special tools that are required too... And a DTI gauge to reset the injector rockers once they have been reseated correctly.

Rather you than me!.... But I do quite fancy the chance to get mine apart and recon it, but then I am strange!
