Audi S3 2007 model Gloss Black Grill

Hey guys,

So i got some damage to my original grill, not major damage but usual stone chips etc.
Just wondering will this grill from FK Tuning fit? Tuning FK Automotive | ABS Sport Grill for Audi A3 (Typ 8P) Yr. 05-08 | purchase online

This looks pretty close to my standard S3 grill to be fair. So much cheaper aswell!!!!

Im looking for a straight swap undo old, and fit new, no cutting, retrofit etc.

Different size mate - someone else correct me if i'm wrong but it'll be too big to fit your S3.
 
I'm confused - As I understand it, the FK grilles fit the A3 no problem. The S3 grilles are shorter so if you fit an A3 grille, it won't physically fit, its too big, Surely?
 
That's what I thought as well, did you read the link?
 
Yeah I did. I guess the FK A3 grill is shorter than an OEM A3 grille so it makes it fit an S3 too but then it'll look awful with a gap on an A3. Each to their own I guess.

Are we all talking about the same grill?

AKAIK FK doesn't make a grill for the S3, just an 'S3 look' grill.

The FK grill on that link is for the A3 not the S3, the gap being referred to on the other thread is the shut line between the grill & the bonnet which is larger than on the OEM grill, not the gap at the bottom of the grill where the S3 grill is short.

That other thread is also slightly confusing as he's uploaded an S3 bumper as the 1st image, but if you look at the actual car he has an S-line bumper. I've got one of these on order from a while go so when it turns up I'll measure it to be 100% everyone knows the right info.

I agree, I'm still of the opinion that the FK grill will not fit the S3 bumper.

Yeah AFAIK there is only one FK grille so no confusion. Skim readers :moa:

It doesn't fit guys.
I have one.....In bits as i was angry it didnt fit.
I bought it in the FK sale £9 brand new, so i wasnt too fussed :happy:

just to confirm, you got an Audi S3 pre facelift 8P2? And the FK grill in my link doesn't fit? :(
 
Literally just had an email from FK to say the grilles are delayed from the factory & they're not sure when they will be shipped :(

Dam that sucks :(

Hopefully it wont be too long as i think there is quite a big demand for these grilles!
Fingers crossed it comes soon so that we can all know the big question that is being asked!

Sorry, I haven't posted a reply sooner!
Yes, I have a 2007 S3 so it's pre facelift. The grille did NOT fit. I even removed some the clips to see if it would but it didn't.
Basically the only option we have is either pay the ridiculous dealer price orrrr pay £80-£100 to get it painted!

Or use the 80-100 pounds and buy copious amounts of alcohol so that you're insight is impared to the level in which the grille could be pink with blue spots but would look black.
 
You have a nice car, for the sake of £80 just re-paint the grill.
Then it will be OEM and look right.

Cheap `nearly fits but not quite` aftermarket stuff doesn't belong on your car.
Don't cut corners, keep it nice. You will be glad you did in the long run, in particular when it comes to resale.

I will, no idea when it will be here & doubt I'll even use it now as my friend rang me a 4am to say he's found me an S3 front end... I'll probably end up spraying the new grill though!
 
The grill has arrived!

Measuring from the top edge of the grill surround ring to the bottom edge
(Directly across the middle of the grill) it measures 45cm.

Haven't checked the measurement of the original grill yet to compare.

Dam, is there one that actually does fit the Audi S3 8P2 bumper then?
been a bit of a pain to find one that fits :/

well if your feeling brave and patient. . .you can try what i did because i wasn't paying for a genuine audi grill neither . . . i just made the fk grill fit by watever means it took . . . check out my thread http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/176904-my-a3-modifications-facelift.html

i just had to savage the back of the fk grill and sand off about 5 mm of the bottom. Also sections of the bumper it self so it fit in and then seal it in with black flexible grab adhesive. . . i wouldn't really recommend it to anyone but if push comes to shove then it's what you gotta do . . .
