What can I say, he played brilliantly, Lendl's effect on him has now got 2 grand slams and Olympic Gold.

So proud of the guy, well deserved & he nailed it, really took it to Nole.

Well done Andy.

Simply stunning, he is still in shock, well deserved.

Yes you cant take anything away from him, sheer determination and thoroughly deserve the victory.Well done indeed!

Pity he doesn't like the english:)

LOL @ forgetting his mum when he climbed into the stands to celebrate with his people.

Boy did good though.

A comment made......once youve made a comment it can be retracted!

But lets not turn this thread into a debate of who said what when its all about history being made!

Well you raised the alleged comment, so why then try to stop a debate about it? What is your understanding of what he said and the context in which he said it?

That doesn't answer my question about context.
I have conversations like that every day of the week with Scottish friends and colleagues. I've even had such banter with Scottish friends on the forum, as Sandra will recall from the Six Nations tournament. It doesn't mean I hate the Scottish. If I hated the Scottish, I wouldn't have chosen to complete my full time education in Scotland. Nor does it mean my Scottish friends hate the English. If they did, they wouldn't have chosen to live in England (like Andy Murray) or have English wives or girlfriends (like Andy Murray), and many many English friends (like Andy Murray).

Well done to the guy, balls of steel to win whilst under bags of pressure from the media.

Did you see the BBC interview with him the other day? Wtf, Murray should be allowed to **** people like that.

He is Scottish, and British, and a thoroughly deserving winner.

Indeed. In the recent documentary about him, both he and Tim Henman explained that it was just a bit of banter, blown out of proportion by the British press.

Its good to see Andy Murray win today. :) Lmao Jeff, we had great banter with the six nations rugby thread, my predictions kept you amused. :) x

Fantastic result! The final game was epic, when he failed to convert three championship points! The game seemed to go on and on. I thought he'd lose the match had he not won it in that game!

It annoys me to see some folk make this about politics, and about Scottish vs British, and see celebs / politicians in the crowd wallowing in self promotion.

It shouldnt be about any of that. Two utterly fantastic athletes at the very top of their game giving their all and then some - thats ALL it should be about.

A gracious loser, and a worthy winner. Was a truly great final.

An amazing finish and great achievement for the country, credit where its due and the boy did good.

Last 20 mins were major edge of the seat stuff hey??

Well done Andy.

I have to admit I was nervous for the guy, but he showed how much he has matured with outside influence & controlled his emotions, as me & a friend discussed, the game is 70% or so mind & 30% ability, Nole used to have terrible times in big matches, sick, stomach problems, he fixed the nerves with new team members, diet etc & mentally became stronger & went on a 43 match win streak, was unbeatable, until the man himself knocked him down, Fedexpress lol.
