+1 to that.. a good decision petrol is the way forward :D

Golf edition 30 mmnnnn I was thining about one. They remap very well indeed! ;-)

Hay hay i said im thinking about it, ive been in my mates leon cupra r 1.8t for the last couple days and i loved the sound of it with the cat back milltek and also its stage 2 mapped 283bhp it feels so quick all the way through rev range not that mine doesn't feel fast but hes not spent much to get it that fast, and also if i went for petrol turbo engine it would be the newer mk5 edition 30 or s3 8p2 so would be more lively than the 1.8T's

but all comes down to how much mine is worth as i wouldn't be happy letting it go for cheap due to the money pit it is

stage 2 map with milltek, hpfp and 4bar fuel reg gets 320bhp and probably much more with twintercooler

8p2 s3 all day man! I drove an 8p2 with stage 1. Never felt anything shift so quick! The golf feels more lively which results in a more involved driving experience. The quattro dulls everything out a bit, cornering flat at 70-80mph (on the track in my garden) u wont even feel worried, everything feels so stable. Not to sure what the edition 30 is like in comparison to a normal gti tho. But if defo say get the s3.

Coming from owning a stage 1 mk2 K1, I would say S3 all day.

IMO the cupra K1 is a much better looking car but putting big power down through FWD considering we are in UK and dry days are few and far between is hassle.

Power is nothing without being able to transfer it to the road.

My 2p.

I dont know what mines worth or how much to advertise at my dad said write px s3 or edition 30 money paid towards the right car, i dont really want one over 80k miles as mine just on 82k its still low mileage, theres lots of a3 tdi's with no where near as high a spec as mine and high mileage who want top spec so need to figure out what proce mines worth, ill have a long hard think about it over the weekend and decide

Im not too fond of the k1 cupra its the interior its not very strong feeling like the audi and golf feel much more chunky and grabby and im a broad guy so if my shoulders arnt comfy and hands arnt gripping a strong feeling steering the car seems week for some reason, the leon is fast but not strong interior wise seems dare i say it brittle

s3 all the way mate golfs too high and the s3 hugs the road like a beast.

right enought u already had the a3 so might be bored of it?

Mate wait a while till August or so, hot hatches are demanding a premium ATM, and your sportback will sell for less :(

I'm in the same boat about an s3 or edition 30, but with a budget of 10k I could only get a moon mileage s3 :(

Its not about the height as stock as it will not be kept standard as im sure you can tell by my sig lol, not sure i might just be bore dof the diesel sound even though mine doesn't sound like a tdi when under load

Ed30 all day long.

More extras, electric mirrors fold down on reverse, puddle lights on the mirrors and standard seats have stiffer bolsters so you don't slide around like with regular S3 seats. (I'm not referring to recaros)

Exactly the same tuning involved as the S3's as they are K04 also and then engine internals are more or less the same, and can withstand the same.

Traction is an issue, especially at stage 2+. But my god they wheel spin well!

Look for a white one, they're quite rare.

Put WALK on it, and white line rear ARB and not alot will touch it. My mates could run rings around my S3.

It was so planted it was silly.

Love the S3 but value, Ed30.

i would have thought the s3 would be quicker in the bends and country roads due to Quattro but the edition 30 is also very nice car and as stated above its the same engine pretty much

The golf is lighter, and with WALK and rear ARB it's a different vehicle altogether.

The S3 understeers horrendously.

Ive had many hairy moments (on my private race track :p) and my friends car (Revo stage 2+ development Ed30) where we'd be going hell for leather and he'd past me on bends where the S3 is literally going straight on.

Sure, you could add WALK to the S3, but remember that's more money you'd have to spend on the car. Where as the Ed30 will be initially cheaper to buy.

Really what I'm saying, money no issue, stick WALK on an S3 and have the best of it all, but it's going to cost you more initially, for a relatively similiar outcome and less toys.

I once had a play with a focus ST, and that absolutely flew around roundabouts, effortlessly.

The S3 I'm looking for lift-off oversteer to stop straight lining everywhere.

WALK will be my next trick I think.

I would go for an A5 Coupe or Sportback.

I know what you mean about the cupra, esprecially pre facelift - the interiors are awful - my reference to it was relating it to an Ed30, as they are both FWD :)

Cupra i could get for cheaper but dont like them as stated above, we will see how i feel about selling mine as i know ill get some idiot offering stupidly low amount of money lol and ill just hang up

there nice but im after power now want over the 300bhp mark its either buy 2.0tfsi or throw another £2000 at mine to get it upto 260ish

How about a wildcard, 335i/335D, they both remap for 0-60 in 4.7 secs or so ;)

Boo to bmw, even tho ad murder for a m3 ha! But way to expensive. A love ma s3 personally. Had it a year and now i want to get more out it soon. Buthis ed30 sounds a good competitor as they say value for money and rare cars (kind of) mate had a stage 2 st with sport clutch that ate its self to bits one day but it was easy 360 brake and fun to throw about as stated earlier so that a good car to mod right and cheaply. Id have st3 Defo an option if ya can see past its a focus haha.

Wouldn't you get more for it standard as its a bigger market? Plus you can give me your mods hehe :)

Ive raced st's in my car and i keep up with them i dont rate them at all plus its a ford lol, edition 30 or s3 tbh, 335i is a nice one but insurance will chew me up and spit me out as im 21yrs old,
my cars *** looked good today :-/ so im still unsure on selling

He reckons it feels quite planted for a fwd car compared to the k1 for example but I've yet to drive one so ill hold out till I have. I love the s3 don't get me wrong but the ed 30 is a very good looking car

Wheel spinning of the lights when drag racing against random people in the track in my garden lol, in my car i cant rag it in first as i cant get power down so second gear is crap aswel but ferocious amount of pull in second, my tuner rates the ed30's he says there as good as the s3's but he says 4wd audi system is number 1 he has an s3 8L 1.8T running 330bhp but has just ordered GTX2871 turbo and is looking for 450bhp he says the Quattro system is awesome

i'm not getting you wrong. i like them too. but don't fancy 350bhp fwd.

Edition 30/K1 very good cars.

I compare both K03 and K04 on the 'road' and 'rolling road' and did not have a problem with K04 at front wheels! Not 'spinny' (fast spool) like K03 200hp TFSI - very 'mature', if that is a better word.

I cannot fault the Edition 30/K1 for power delivery. Audi S3 265hp TFSI I work on several - a good choice if you prefer Quattro. If you want normal car with good power (Stage 1) then leave alone - FWD is perfect!

Only if you want 350hp ++ I would advise Audi S3. They are all very similar engine - no matter what model. Last Edition 30 I see made 294.4hp with 390NM on DSG spastic gears. Very capable car. I could this but doubt I'd have a licence for long.

Gotta go sleep - James O send link to me. Nite zzzzz

thats what im worried about if an edition 30 with milltek, hpfp, cai, twintercooler, lowered on coilovers going round bends it wont be as good as an s3 with same set up

lsd helps with that :D

Do not tune for 350hp - be a normal human and leave engine 'stock', with just Stage 1.

More than enough power for anybody. Understand these are very good - no need for these HPFP and silly things. I see these cars all the time, and advice leaving stock, stick to Main Dealer servicing and car will be 100% fine :)

i can ask for silly price if i sell it how it is but i wouldnt get bo where near my money back for parts if i was to sell them to you although im sure quite a few parts would sell on here to fellow TDI owners ?? ;-)

Do not mod car then take bits off.... just sell as whole.

Personally I would never do modification. Even on 18s (Edition 30) so much better to drive. Seriously nicer car (not with silly suspension we leave alone) :)

Love them Bentley wheels!

A re-map on a 3.0 v6 diesel will take it over 300bhp ....easily
