Hi,

i am looking at retrofitting a MFSW to a 2006 Audi A3 but am aware that the there are two different type 3 spoke MFSW and only certain airbags will fit. May be a stupid question but how can you tell the difference between the steering wheels if the look almost identical?

Remove airbag & look inside of current wheel for the 2 riser silver studs, that's the difference.

Need someone to supply/fit, if so give us a shout.

By removing the airbag and carefully inspecting the position and angle of the locating pegs and fixing bolts.

Here he is, where you been hiding?

Hi NHN, thanks for that. both the new wheel and the old wheel have the studs next to the airbag securing bolts, they look identical. I will try to upload photos but having iPhone issues!

I'm now thinking that they look further apart from each other.... ******!

Don't worry - the new MFSW shown in pic #1 will be ok if your airbag is from the wheel shown in the second pic ( if you know what I mean )

EDIT : you do know that you will need a new steering module don't you ?

Hi mike,

thanks for that, hope it all will fit then!
Yes the airbag is from the wheel in picture #2 and I'm hoping to fit it to the MFSW in pic #1. Sorry the pictures were not too great, I just unscrewed and moved the airbag aside to get the camera in to take the photo of the posts, without disconnecting it from the slip ring..

Yeah got the new module already thanks, plus got all the bits to do a double din Dash conversion this weekend as well.... New cage, buttons, fascias, climate control panel etc... Just now trying to figure out which double din concert radio will be compatible being as the car is a 2006 model and was obviously a single din concert up until now.... Wanted to put in rns-e straight away but am going to have to wait a month or so for the bank to settle!
