Benefits of fitting a catch can?

as title, its been on my mind a bit lately, would it be worth the 25-40 quid? my vehicle is a 2tdi bkd engine

I opened a thread recently about this very issue. Most people believe that I it better for the engine/oil and should be fitted as standard. From what I see they do stop a lot of crap going back in to the engine. Only reason people believe it is not fitted as standard is because car manufacturers probably and rightly think the general public would forget to empty the can causing them to overflow or burst in freezing conditions. With most things you get what to pay for. I would suggest buying the REVO or FORGE Catch Cans but they are lot more that £40. I am more than likely going the REVO route but that's because they are hopefully going to do me a "package deal" as I want a few bits, so I am hoping for some sort of discount.

The problem with the TFSi scavenging system is it dumps a lot of oil and water vapour into the inlet manifold,where it builds up on the inlet valve stems,as the direct injection system doesn't inject petrol into the inlet above the valves.

A catch tank will remove a good bit of this,but not all,as there is a cam cover breather that empties into the turbo inlet.

So....it reduces the problem,but doesn't negate it altogether.

As per usual Alex thank you for the proper explanation! Does a "PCV Fix" sort out the cam cover breather so it doesn't empty into the turbo inlet? Or is it just an addition for the Catch Can to work?
