Adding stiffness to the actuator can potentially cause massive overboost...

...particularly the bit about adding aftermarket actuators... the load profiles need to be tweaked to suite, the map knows how much boost it needs to meet the load request and by stiffening the actuator you raise its base boost pressure (from 0.5bar to say 1bar) and everything moves up with it except the load the ECU is expecting... this will cause boost spikes and limp mode... potentially worse things too like rod bending torque spikes

Yes i agree with everything your saying.
i have read the remap thread, a great read.
But as with everything not being equal i.e old engines and wg being old and worn, old maps and so forth.
And those of us running generic maps, and unable to get custom mapping till a later date(slippery slope as its put of this forum)
To be fair the overboosting is covered and an mbc should control this.

Yes i have read Gops thread.
Is this not a cheap version of an uprated actuator?
Im only asking about the springs because i have had the engine out (mani cracked) clutch change which was a disaster(clutch made to wrong spec) and dont fancy stripping everthing back again
When i first took her out with the new flywheel (f1 lightweight) it went like stink.
Now it seems slower from low down.
So i was wondering if anyone had tried this mod and the results

Same thing applies to an uprated actuator as it does with the pikey spring mod... potential for boost spikes so substitute 'plug and play' for 'easy to swap'... plug an play suggests you swap it and it will just work which is not necessarily the case...

Gops map was tweaked to dial the new actuator in... its a great mod but needs map tweaks

only work on dumb cars like AGU, anything with a map sensor will prob go into limp mode.
