Hello guys, got my a3 loving it but I have a couple of questions;

What's the deal with computer 1 and 2, why have 2 mpg read outs and 2 fuel range and everything, am I missing a trick with this stuff?

What's ECON and what's the A with an arrow round it? One is aircon I assume!

How much would I be looking at to convert to double din? Excluding the radio and labour?

Is the windows up and down on the key standard?

Where might I find an ignition fuse to pair to my radio for ignition live?

That's all for now! Thanks very much!

Maybe on computer 1 you could see what you've averaged over a month and like me computer 2 is what I've been doing since I've owned it as I don't think it resets like computer 1 does.

The econ button when lit aircon is off.

I'm not sure about the A with arrow but ill guess at automatic recirculating.

Single to double cost me around 70-80 quid for parts and took me about 3 hours

The windows up and down via the fob was on mine when I got it too so ill say yes?

Comp 1 is what you've averaged in that trip, upto 3 hours of being turned off before it resets. Comp 2 is everything until you reset it yourself with the ok button on the stalk.

Trip Computer 1 resets after 1 or 2 hours since turned off I think, whereas trip 2 needs to be manually reset so that'll be what the cars done since it was last reset. Maybe a good idea to reset it if you've just the car so you can see exactly what you've done and not what the previous person has.

The windows up and down via the fob was on mine when I got it too so ill say yes?

Mine also came with it but it can be disabled (or enabled if you don't have it) via VCDS.

Mikemc pretty much has hit the nail on the head but just to clarify a couple of points.

The windows up/down via the key fob 'should' be standard on EU cars, unless someone has disabled via VCDS.

Yes, auto recirculation, you also have a manual recirculation button.

Post some pics of the new car for us all to see.

Any mods planned?

Ah thanks for all the answers guys! very helpful!

I havent really taken many! I spent all morning cleaning etc, then it rained so ive just been driving and fitting new bolt ons, wipers, mats, aircon regas, etc!

As far as mods go, I was thinking some cheap and cheerful bolt on filter, or full induction if its worth it, and a remap, but i am concerned about the turbo blowing up if i do. its on 110k or so, not exactly fresh as a daisy!

Im also looking for a spoiler, and the parts for a double din setup! and a few worn buttons!

Oh and I need advice on alloys! Could i get away with just blasting and coating these? maybe a trip to photoshop is due haha.

Woah this seems alot when i type it out lol.

Anyway; here it is!

I have new plates! Looks miles better already. Gave it another wash and polish/wax etc. Just need to get the hang of the machine polisher to remove some swirls.

Any tips on removing all that tar? Instead of picking it with a nail for 7 hours lol.

Try Autosmart Tardis Tar and Glue Remover. Supposed to be the best on the market and not too strong. Just make sure you test it in an inconspicuous place before spraying the whole car with it!

p.s. be careful not to spray it on any of the badges on the body of the car. Tardis and dental floss is used by some to debadge cars.

For tar removal try a product called devils blood.

Good gear like.... Doesn't smell great but does a great job :)

Auto glum tar remover is brilliant. I use it all the time and works wonders on body work and alloys, removes tar spots as if they were hot butter.

Another 1 for autosmart tardis!

Got a drum of it for around £20 if i remember correctly and it works wonders!

Yep, Tardis is the stuff to use. I bought a big tin of it over a year ago and still got loads left, brilliant value for money.

Just be aware that it will strip any wax/sealant you've got on.
