Remember hearing a story few years back, about a driver who was going fairly quickly. An unmarked car pulled up alongside him and the policeman in the passenger seat(the car going quick was in inside lane) held up a piece of A4 paper with the words "speed limit 70!!" on it.
The other driver acknowledged this, copper gave him a nod and continued on his merry way.Common sense prevails :)

Maybe you should try some reading?

https://www.gov.uk/general-rules-all-drivers-riders-103-to-158/multilane-carriageways-133-to-143

Incidentally, until recently the advanced driving test allowed you 10mph over the limit for overtaking.
yea, I was gonna say it's actually in Blue & White on every motorway in the Country... but I guess driving in the middle lane all the time means you can't see the road signs situated on the left & are therefore immune from their message. lol

I know a trafiic cop from herts constabulary, a jobsworth too as it goes. I might email him this thread.

I'm sure he'll be ****-o-hoop about you calling him a jobsworth, so go ahead and watch Karma in full effect. :p

Im having a dig at the way you brag about speeding excessively, at least have the decency to keep it to yourself, rather than make it look like its ok to speed. its not ok. dont do it.

Oh wind your neck in.

At no point did I ever "brag" or "boast" about speeding, I was merely relaying my experience. If you choose to interpret it otherwise then that's your problem and frankly I don't give a toss.

Or just use GPS - oh ****** thats not that simple as it assumes you are always travelling on level ground - rephrase - just use sat nav when on level ground and do not drive up or down hill

Not necessarily true - GPS works in 3D (provided at least 4 satellites are in view) ie they calculate altitude as well (some display it) and can take the altitude into account when calculating speed. Older units may have not done this, but I would expect most modern systems do.

Some will use their discretion if you don't go telling them how to do their job, i.e: why aren't you out catching "real" criminals ...etc. Being polite costs nothing, and should be mandatory if you know you're in the wrong.

take this above answer as the whole truth and nothing but the truth. lets just say, hes right and I know why he's right ;)

this made my dull night not so dull
but i do agree.

My goodness there are some self righteous, people (person) on here.

Everyone speeds, to say otherwise would make you a liar. I do it daily, but there is a time and a place, like the Op pointed out. Being sensible, it is not black and white.

Wind your neck in and jog on.

It's a long way down from that 'high horse' you appear so fond of.

Just out of curiosity, your sig lists a number of 'mods' you appear to 'boast' about (to use your terminology). For someone who rigidly sticks to speed limits and presumably avoids any form of risky driving, they seem at odds with the image you're portraying here.

Am I missing something?

I have a few cars, not just an Audi. I speed in them all. When conditions permit.

I think you should buy a life.
