Rhyso's Posh Golf

About time there was an update on this thread isn't it Mr Rhys??!! :tapedshut:

what do you want to know? The fact its now clocked over 61,500 miles, had its cambelt etc replaced, going to cost me a new set of tyres on Tuesday plus tracking and that it looks like its been rallying........lol

one bonus is I got my summer wheels refurbed for the price of 2 as the refurb company cocked up the colour :whistle2:

equally, isnt your sig pic a little out of date Scott

Cam belt, blimey. Mileage is creeping up isn't it mate! Sounds good on the wheels, all good in the end. I'll update the sig.... One day.

Found a leak coming from my EGR pipe so used it as an excuse to buy these

sadly Forge forgot to supply the clamps so are sending them out today....i hope they fit because the last Forge product I bought wasnt a great fit......

Clocking them miles up I see rhyso

Need a second car like me well the wife's

Booked the derv in for rear bumper painting next week. Also tinting my headlights, wrapping the b pillars and hopefully get it serviced and the Forge pipes fitted

then in a couple of weeks get it detailed ready for the summer. Tempted to get some carbon fibre wing mirror covers too.........

let me know who you use for detailing mate... My car needs a DA polish to get rid of the car wash scratches the previous owner inflicted on it!

i use PRD Detailing mate as they are mates of mine :). They are users on here - Fran, drmole, S4Twiggy and Colin. They did the A3 when I first had it but thats over 2 years ago now!

Ok, I'll look them up. I know of Fran. He has the Red 3 door doesn't he? :icon_thumright:

Ok so I've been buying some more bits lately....

Whiteline Rear anti roll bar
Powerflex lower engine mount insert

and also had my headlights tinted and B pillars wrapped

Finally had the Powerflex insert and antiroll bar fitted today :) nice improvement in the handling now although need to give it a bit of stick

Tried fitting the Forge boost pipes too..... usefully they supplied the WRONG coupler for one of the pipes so are now sending me a couple of couplers to see which one will fit......

Car is looking superb Rhyso. :) x

Nice!! Shame it will be hidden in a air box :icon_thumright:

Does it sound any different?

only driven it around town lol!

No real difference. The one chance i did open it up on the dual carriageway there felt like a hesitation. I must pull my finger out and log the MAF as I have a sneaking suspicion its not doing what it should.....:uhm:

Well went to have the Forge pipes fitted last weekend and guess what......the EGR couple is WRONG :banghead:

spoke to Forge on Monday and they sent out various ones to try. Its going to be a case of 3rd time lucky............maybe I should have just saved up for the Darkside hardpipe kit as at least I wouldnt have had to source new o-rings and jubliee clips

On my own whilst the missus is out shopping so grabbed the laptop and started going through some things on VAGCOM just cos I can

I think VAGCOM has been updated recently as I could never find the option to code fog lights as DRL's, but it has and the result is this

under Module 9 - Central Electronics. You just enable fogs as DRL's and adjust the brightness down to approx 25%. They work as proper fogs when you pull the headlight switch into position

mines a 57 plate car and I tried this on my mates 56 but his module didnt support the function

cheers :)

Does it require any additional wiring?

You going to GTI international?

So here it goes....

Had a PM the other day from my mate Topher asking if I wanted a DPF pipe that was for a customer of theirs who suddenly disappeared into thin air. I thought about it for about 2 seconds before saying yes so I was booked in for the pipe to be fitted today. Left sunny South Wales at 6am this morning and arrived at Midland VW just before 8.30am :) made it there before Topher :ninja:

Car was taken into the workshop were removal began. About 40 minutes later i was asked to have a look expecting to see it almost ready....to be greeted with this...

Yes that would be the pipe NOT fitting :banghead:

Thankfully though all was not lost as the clever chaps at Midland VW came up with an idea...

Chop chop

And back together again

Net result is 205bhp and 320lbs ft torque, not a massive increase (torque is unchanged) but the throttle is sharper and it just pulls so much harder past 3000rpm. MPG seemed to be up too despite me having a bit of fun on the way home!

No smoke, no poke!

Want to say a big thank you to everyone at Midland VW for making me feel welcome and letting me wander around having a close up look at how they operate; they put most main dealers to shame!!! Really great bunch of people

Loving the idea of the down pipe - what MPG are you getting and roughly how much is it for just the standard pipe?

Cars coming along nicely pal, i really need to start abuild thread :-/ lol

i havent monitored it for ages but the DPF delete gave me anything from another 30-50miles per tank. I normally see approx 500 miles mixed driving, less if around town, bit more on the motorway. Still got some map tweaks to make nit I need to fit the EGR delete as it has a take off built into it then i can fit a temp boost gauge and see whats happening. Car is currently running 1.65bar but VCDS cant see that high lol

with regards to cost I got it from the guys who write my maps for next to nothing :)
