Gops' Subtle mod thread

I must remember... 'Bribe Bill with food!' :yum:

I thought this was the unwritten rule for all mappers? Lol

Bill = Pakoras
Nicki = Hobnobs

:)

Be interested to hear how much difference you notice between stage 1 and 2 also

Stage one generic is "good". I say only good because its generic. When you step to a custom map and your car responds well to it, it's like driving another car, it's completely different! I can hit 60 in 2nd gear, car responds so well and like bill said, so eager to go! Stage 1 felt like it was standard and about dull but then again I've never driven a standard s3! The exhaust is so nice! It's actually THE perfect setup! Would of been better to have a badger 5 built back box but this is still good! I can't imagine what it would be like With another 20lb ft lol!! I'm off to protect the exhaust and make sure it's cleannn :)

I can't remember, something like 7500? Probably less. But it's perfect!

Definitely over 7k! Had a little play with a Matte grey M3 v8! Needless to say it was obviously faster, right up my trumpet but when it got to the twisties (even with the crap front tyres I have) I kind of had him! Was a 2 lane road, he didn't overtake. Therefore I won haha! But I bet he was surprised! Would of killed me if the stretch was long enough! Massive improvement over stage 1!

Awesome mate, sounds like you are very happy with the results....

Well done as always Bill :)

Catch up with you soon, ive been mega busy with work and home life, so no time for the car or meets etc.

I love reading about good results when people are so happy, makes you excited for them too! You at inters Gops?

It does work.. :)

Not a hob nob man... oriental food and indian food I luv... big time.

Aren't we meant to say "Asian" these days? Any how my mrs is Thai, shame you're not in Aus. Another reason to visit and map my car haha

yea, asian is a better description... my bad.

I was brought up in my younger years in Malasia, so its influence on my taste buds is imprinted on me now.

luv it

Indian, Thai, Chinese etc.........
hmmmm

Damn, is it Pakora time yet? :)

I need some of this in my life. I don't actually know what my limiter has been set at!

Why don't you try it out in 1st gear? :racer:

I had a go in an IHI Turbo'd A3 many years ago, it was quick, but the owner only told me it had a higher rev limiter after I parked up! Aargh, still plenty quick enough though!!

Cheers for the little write up....sounds like it's well worth it then- I just hope my car takes well to a stage 2 custom map when it happens :)

Just out of interest - does anyone know what the standard rev limit is set to on the S3, now that yours is 7200rpm?

Actuator upgrade off Dan (Beachbuggy)

All I am saying

This is a poor effort Fred! I found out there my rev limiter is within 200 yards of leaving R-tech.

7400 here. I wanted 7600, but Gower is mean :sob:

Looking back on my dyno plot, mine appears to be around 7200. Shame there's no 0-60 at Inters this year as 1 less gear change may have shaved off a fair bit of time!

I was planning on going inters this year as well! I'd love to see what the 0-60 actually is, it's pretty quick but I don't wanna kill my clutch.

So I met up with Gops earlier, and he gave me the keys to my ex S3! All I can say is WOW! Hard to believe this is the same car I sold! All I want to do is stay in 3rd gear and rev it from 3k to the redline, it's rather addictive! :racer:

Pulls really well in the midrange, 2nd gear is over too quickly, so 3rd gear is my gear of choice! it does more of the same in the higher gears, but I didn't have enough road to try it out, plus @184k miles, I still have to give it some mechanical sympathy!

Good work Gops, and good work Bill, the car pulls nicely, much quicker than I had imagined it! Can't even imagine what an S3 feels like with over 300bhp?!

I just now have to decide what route I want to go with my own car now!

Well done Bill, nothing but praise for the car last night when we met up with Gops, couple of the lads took it out for a spin and returned with BIG smiles!!

Thanks guys and bill! As you explained in your recent thread, if you book for a remap, that's what the tuner expects, not to fiddle around like with that Leon! I did my best to make sure everything was 100% even if it cost me a new maf and n75. Nothin was wrong With them, I just felt it could be better if I changed them!

Mapping a car isnt going to fix an already faulty car, so its just common sense really to have it running as best as possible before a map is done, obviously you may have some common faults that will get exxagerated before a map or whilst being mapped, but you would expect these parts to be readily available and to be swapped in little time to continue with the remap.

It can be a tough deal for some people, some people dont care to know their cars as well as us, and just want to give it to a tuner and say make it fast please. Which is no bad thing for people who have no interest in the ins n outs of car tuning, but for someone as busy as bill, or r-tech, they need fast turn around and it must **** on their chips when issues crop up where they have to ring a customer and say it needs this, this and this, and then either decline the car (costing time and money), or sort the things (costing time mostly for the backlog of bookings).

I imagine its something the bigger shops like amd or awesome arent too fussed about. Therefore a politely ignorant enthusiast wanting a remap would probably go down better with them, rather than the smaller specialists like bill who must get fruatrated with peoples lack of care, or rather interest/knowledge.

Lol everyone wants some boost in their life ;)

a week with my car now and it feels totally different! LOTS of cars have been very surprised, I so need a "badger 5 edition" badge somewhere! But on the whole, it's such a transformed car! Maybe I might just fit some rods, I've been thinking about it all day!
