Hey guys just thought I'd share a little project I'm doing at the moment.

I'm going to be fitting this onto the underside of the parcel shelf out of site with the camera that comes with it facing out the rear :

And then modifying this to fit into the front grill out of sight.

Will upload some picture once the parts arrive and give you some finished pictures as well.

Unless i'm reading this wrong, the first one is a small camera which uses a micro card in the camera to record to, so is a DVR in itself. The bigger screen part is just a Monitor and so has no recording feature.
Therefore the is no way of recording the output from the second camera.

Nope you are right. That is something I miss read. It's so hard to find a 2 channel dvr recorder for under £50 lol

Was just going to stick an old 250gb Sata I have laying around in it.

I will upload some photos once the parts have arrived and its all fitted.

Got my dvr and just going to start making a bracket to hold it in place under the passenger seat

And then to begin the wiring.

Looking forward to seeing the outcome of this one!

I know the unit you have got from Maplin has had a few issues with getting the video files off but hopefully they have sorted it now! How many cameras are you going for overall?

It's all seemed fine while I've been testing it inside. Just got to sort out power feeds and choose and fit cameras now. Il upload some footage when it's in and working.

Cool... Well I remember hearing that the maximum file size you could pull off with a memory stick was about 1GB and you had to use a specific memory stick, is this still true?

What have you thought in regards to power to the unit? Will you hook it up so that it's just with ignition or that it will work when the car is parked up? I can imagine this DVR using a lot of juice.

Sounds like a good project. Would be ace if you had a camera for each side too, perhaps near your A Pillar that points out your side windows so you can get a view of the side of the car.

It has a hard drive cady built in the bottom which I can plug straight into my computer to upload.

I've got a large compacity battery which should hopefully be enough. If not il fit a small backup battery in the boot.

The box can take up to 4 cameras. Which I'm just doing the front and rear for now and then will add the sides at a later date.
