Have I bought the right Brembo calipers?

Tonight managed to compare these to Junior GT setup on a car at a meet, and the are identical on the outside.
So unless the pistons are different sizes, then it looks like they are the GT calipers.

Anyone happen to know the size size of LCR or Junior GT pistons?

they are the wrong mounting by looks of things. They are Post mount, i believe we need the other IS mount

(unsure of terms for mounts, i only know it from mountain bikes)

Radial (as pictured, usually easier to custom fit) or lug mount (like a standard caliper, carrier built in).

in the bike world its post mount (radial) or IS, international standard (lug).
why there is so many different terms between different applications i dont know lol.

Motorbike or push bike? I remember getting Hope 4 pots for my push bike. Immense. Still have them plus an original hope disc brake.

Only problem with that option is that almost all second hand LCR brembos are knackered. And who actually runs second hand discs and pads?

Its not a wild claim at all. I buy and refurbish Brembos as a hobby/side job. I'd say out of every ten sets, there are 1 that are in perfectly useable condition with no work other than cosmetic repair.

Big difference between second hand discs and pads, compared to all the other parts you mentioned (except tyres, but then I wouldn;t run 2nd hand tyres either). Discs and pads are consumables. And you have no idea how they've been previously treated. For the price of a set of discs and pads, I'd never run a second hand set.

Not at all. You should know better than most folk the sort of condition they come in. Folk run them for 100k, never look at them, and sell them as perfect. Generally because they don;t know any better. At 1000 miles, brand new ones are starting to corrode under the sliders (****ty design)

Not before I drive it away, but when/if I buy a second hand car, the first thing I do is service it, replace discs, pads hoses and fluid, and fit new tyres. (plus new wipers, plates and bulbs)

I've never bought a set off ebay. Because they're all overpriced and owned by 'enthusiasts' who don;t have a clue about brakes

I buy them from various places. Forums, gumtree etc, and I'm quite happy for them to be knackered. But most of the ones on ebay are knackered, yet wanting the same price as refurbished ones because they've had a coat of shoddily applied paint.

The big problem with them is that you can buy a set of brand spanking new calipers for £400, carriers for £50, hoses for £25, £100 for cheap discs and pads.
So its very easy for someone to buy a cheap brand new set, for not much more than a refurbished set.

why not? My LCR is currently on gt junior carriers

I've never claimed to be an expert. Your obviously thinking of yourself.

What I do know is that I have a set of LCR calipers, on an LCR, with GT juior carriers and no issues

No, I really think you have branded yourself as an expert. I never put those words in your mouth, your continued input in this thread and admission to buying, refurbishing and reselling Brembos made your authority on the subject perfectly clear.

If you aren't an expert, then what are you doing refurbishing calipers and selling them on to the public as a side line? Dangerous much.

The offset is 5.5mm different, as Bill said. So your statement of "What I do know is that I have a set of LCR calipers, on an LCR, with GT juior carriers and no issues" isn't a helpful comment at all. It may well all bolt up, BUT the offset WILL have changed. Meaning the OP might go out and pick up some cheap LCR carriers and have figment issues, because he doesn't know the offset will have changed.

I suspect the reason for this is due to standard fitment LCR wheels are ET38 and standard S3 Avus wheels are ET32.

Which gives 6mm MORE clearance on the LCR wheels, hence the offset difference between the after market S3 GT Junior kit and the factory fitted LCR Brembos.

Don't mess about, I'm certainly not in the mood for catty back handed remarks when I tell that you are wrong, along with the most informed member of this forum on 8L braking.

Congrats to the OP, glad you have made a good purchase.

I paid £150 for the callipers, they are brand new, still have the plugs in where the hoses go into and the seals are not broken.
They also came with new brembo pads.

I doubt that TBH. The paint finish on new Brembo's is generally much better than that.
Looks like someone's done a quick spruce up on them & sold them as new (Red paint on the bleed screw & cap)

As were on the subject (I don't have a clue regarding what fits what) there's a lad near me who just breaks cupra R's (I got my maf from him) and he said he's selling brembo brakes (everything you need to get them working) £350 but you take them off as he hasn't got round to breaking that one yet.

Anyone interested ill forward his number and he has full k04 turbo with downpipe and full intercooler bits he said what ever you need to get it physically on an A3 you can have, dunno price for that tho

Odd, there's no sign of corrosion or wear on any parts, or fluid inside.

As long as they work ok when fitted, at the price I paid I'm happy!

Good chance they have been stripped & bead blasted.
I would also expect them to have some fluid in them as they should have been tested.
