Ordered my A3 8V 2.0TDI S-Line 3 door on Saturday and i actually cant wait.. They have said its delivery date will be week 48 which is a long way off but hopefully will be worth the wait :D

Ive gone for the Glacier White in manual.

SD card based nav
Privacy glass
25mm lower suspension.

Regretting not putting on the Audi Sound System a little bit now but hopefully wont notice too much of a difference. Has anyone heard the difference between the two and know if the subwoofer makes a big difference?

What do people think if the 25mm lowered suspension asin looks and the actual comfort of the ride?

Week 48 is definitely too far away too wait though :( far too excited.

If you've only just ordered it you should have plenty of time to add on the Audi sound system if you wanted it. You can modify the order up to about 4 weeks before its built. Good spec though :)

Cheers ! The nav was a 100% must have due to being fed up of using my iphone as a satnav when needed, is just much more practical having it integrated in the car.. also i think the bluetooth streaming is going to be superb as its so much easier :) ive emailed the guy who has sorted my purchase out and hes said to pop in to have a listen to the system and see if its good enough.. if not then to add the audi system on :) but we shall see..

Order now amended

added on the 'Audi sound system' as i went up to the dealership to hear a standard system in the SE and it just wasnt up to my liking so i thought the centre speaker and subwoofer was a must have !

If you like your music, you have got to have the upgrade :D

Extras are now :

Sd card based nav
Privacy glass
Audi Sound System
25mm lower S-line suspension

SUPER EXCITED NOW !

Have you managed to compare the standard system with the upgraded one though?

Nah.

If you still refer to the radio as a 'wireless' you'll be OK with standard.
If you listen to anything other than The Archers on the wireless you'll need the Audi Sound System.
If you really like music, you need B&O!

Glacier White is a lovely colour though.

cemerson - Unfortunately i havent no, but the standard system just wasnt (bassy) enough for me.. i have a a3 8p sportback at the moment which has the sub built in to the side of the boot.. the quality of mine compared to the new standard system was alot better which i why i want ahead with the upgrade soley for the subwoofer as itll relieve abit of bass off the front speakers :)

hittchy - i cant stretch to the B&O but im hoping the audi sound system will have a little kick as many have said on the forum it is far better than standard but the B&O does blow you away !

You will be pleased. I had Audi Sound System on my last car and it was great. B&O is a bit of an extravagance!

Thats good news ! Did it take some bass off the door speakers so you can actually hear vocals coming from them? Id love to hear a B&O though as i never have :)

I'd had Bose previously in an S3. It was nearly as good as the Bose in most circumstances. Only when you really cranked up the volume did you hear some distortion.

I may get some stick for this... but a sound engineer friend told me B&O were like the Apple of the speaker world - overpriced, shiny, good markiting but not any better (and sometimes not as good) as the competition. Of course the extra 600 odd watts will give you better volume if that's important to you.

I say this without having heard any of them myself however...

*darn.... missed!*

I bought it with my ears, not my eyes!

Having had Bose, Audi sound and B&O (albeit in different cars) I can safely say from experience that B&O sounds better.... whether it's £500 better though is questionable.

In all seriousness I completely understand where you're coming from with the skepticism. All I can say is if you're considering it you need to listen to it :)

I havent even got BOSE in my 8p now so i should notice a better difference which should be a bonus ! I can only wait and see :)

I'm not an audiophile by any means, but do enjoy my music. I don't play it excessively loud, but I considered the extra speakres and having an active system worth the money, but B&O definitely not for me. I do like the B&O in the A6 though where it has the popup centre speaker... even more expensive there though I think!

That one's about £6k I think. Interestingly, they do Bose and B&O in the A6. Bose about £600.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that the Audi Sound System in the A3 is just unbranded / rebranded Bose, but I can't remember where from - and haven't heard anyone say it definitely isn't!

I've heard the rumours.

When I had a demo car with Audi Sound, I managed to compare with the B&O. The B&O was clearly branded on the sub. However, the Audi Sound was branded DAS. There is a company named DAS that specialise in sound systems, so more likely they struck up a deal with them. The sub casing looks identical apart from that.

I'd be more inclined to say it wasn't Bose.

Right, I amended my order a few days after I put my initial order in to add on the audi sound system but hadnt got round to picking up the paperwork. So I went in today sat down, had a chat and signed the new paperwork and he did a status check on the build week.. Bearing in mind I ordered this 15th June, build week is set for week 50 :'(

OUCH! He did say it is likely to come forward by a few weeks but not certain :'( If not it'll be 2014 when I get it !

Seems a much longer wait than what everyone else has been estimated :(

I know what you mean.. I'm still waiting for my build week confirmation, and they were estimating week 45 or so :(. Still debating the S-Line suspension myself.. I've driven both, and find that the sport is ok, and great over pot holes etc, whilst the S-Line seemed more planted around corners.. Still can't decide really whether to have the comfort or the better handling...

When did you order mate? I've gone for the s-line suspension as its near enough the same ride as my 8p s-line now which I don't mind at all! And even throwing it into a bend is still great ! Go s-line suspension ;)

I ordered just over a week ago. I have been told that I will have a build date some point this week. I currently drive an Audi TT, so trying to figure out whether the s line suspension is firmer than what I currently drive.

You'll have to let me know your build date week when you get it then mate :) and I couldn't tell you but I reckon it will be very similar !

Knowing my luck it will be pushed back, although in a sense I don't mind too much, as it would mean I could save more and take out a smaller loan.. Doesn't mean I don't want the car sooner though!

Bit of a bonus for you then! But I know January as est delivery is just too far ! That's nearly 7 month wait -_- 2 months before the 14 plate.. Bit of a joke really ! But I hope it's worth it :D only problem is that it will make my current a3 harder to sell in winter time :/

If they push it back further, there is Always the chance I can push to have more freebies thrown in to compensate for the very long wait time;). Like you I'm going to try and sell my old car privately, but I have an accepted price for my trade in which has been signed off by the dealer, so at least I have that as a backup..

I'm afraid I will just pip you at the post, I had a call from the dealer earlier today. I've provisionally been assigned a build week of week 47.The dealer did state however that this might move as much as two weeks (either forward or back) possibly.. Just got to settle in and endure now as the long wait begins..

I suspect my delivery date moved due to me amending my order possibly! I had an estimated build week of 47 originally so due to me amending it might be why it has gone to week 50. But congratulations, at least you now have a build week :) hopefully our build weeks both get brought forward ai !

I recently compared the Audi A3 TDI against the Golf GTD. I've got to say, as well as the Golf having more power, the amount of standard kit compared to the A3 is amazing. I just couldn't justify the A3 over the Golf.

I did look at them in all fairness but I prefer the interior of the new a3 than the gtd but it didn't help I couldn't insure a gtd ! Where as I could an a3. The joys of insurance for younger drivers !
