BenJee's S3 Progress Thread

25 degrees on the climate control! You'll fry!

Can you share a link to the number plate lights you bought please? I bought some that look identical and they didn't work so I put them in the boot light and they work fine in there. Weird!

Looking good - didn't think I'd like the de-wiper mod but it looks good on a black S3. All you need now is a new coolant bottle and your engine bay will be sweet.

Haha, no wonder my mpg is 23 lol, I bought them from an eBay shop, I'll find you the link :)

Yeah I think the dewiper just De clutters the rear!

Funny you say that, got a Porsche coolant cap and oil cap coming end of the month ;)

Thanks for your comments!

Forgot to add, refurbished my other headlamp to match, and fitted LED 501 sidelights to go with the xenons

Thank you mate! It's slowly getting there now :) I bought it brand new from ebay from someone who never fitted it as his car was stolen before he could! ! It was £200 including postage for the lot.

loving the thread chap! pretty much at the same stage as mine now! the welly cooler makes a hell of a difference and if im honest looks the mutts nutts! :D a utter bargain for what it is!

Thank you mate! Yeah I'm going for a dyno run at jabba sport soon when it's all fitted to see what it's running, would love it to be 270-300!

Few pics after a clean, last shots before the fogs go this weekend with the FMIC going in!

So my dad and I fitted the FMIC today and what a mission! This took us best part of 6 hours including fabricating the mounting brackets and modifying the bumper, so glad its done!

Anyway took a few progress pics

20130609_105530.jpg

Had to cut the bracket which holds the horns on as the bolts which connect it, also hold on the bonnet catch, and the bolts wouldn't budge. So out came the disc cutter

Cut the crash bar out

Offered up

Smic's removed

20130609_105545.jpg

Then used this bolt hole to mount the angled metal bracket. Cut a recess for it to sit in

Then used perforated strips to join the bracket to the cooler. Used the same strips to screw the underside to the car
Unfortunately didn't get any pics of the bracket and pipework :(

Anyway the finished result

Looks pretty mean now, it's definatly not stealthy lol! Have you noticed any difference?

yeah the stealth look as definitely gone out the window now! (From the front, anyway) only driven it 15 miles but feels like the turbo spools quicker, no hesitation. Hopefully the performance will now be there all the time rather than having good and not so good days depending on the outside temp! I might take the bumper off again next week and do a little more trimming till I'm 100% happy, and may consider taking out the middle grill as well as the fogs..not sure yet! I've got some black diamond mesh which may reveal a bit more of the cooler without exposing it completely

Looks great! think this is going to be my next modification performance wise aswell. As mentioned above, can u feel a difference in performance? It definitley looks the part!

the only difference if any I can feel is a little less lag, and it does feel like the power delivery was smoother. I've only driven it for 15 miles though so I will let you know after a few days :) the main benefit will be the cooler air intake temp keeping things smooth and consistent as opposed to having sporadic performance!

Im having it dynod on my week off next week and also having the map tweaked to accommodate the milltek, TIP, s2000 filter and FMIC...can't wait!

also bought some TT pedals to go with the new foot rest to finish off the interior :)

Nice one that would be great cheers mate. Make sure you post up your charts :racer:

I have a set of those in mine, nice subtle mod imo.

Wheres the rest plate from mate? Got a link?

Yeah pretty much the same, except the 1st link comes with a rubber backing. The plastic footrest is ridged and slightly curved so the rubber backing helps it fit better and not rattle :)

ahhh the annoying rattles.
I hate rattles, squeaks, bangs, clunks and thuds.

Your RNS-d unit, do you have the TMC fitted to it?

Haha thanks mate! I inadvertently found it whilst looking for boost hoses :) That company do all sorts for the 20vt, although I had to send the top intercooler hoses back for a refund as the n/s popped off whilst driving as it was made wrong!

Also hows it stick on?
It comes with a fitting kit and bolts on, however I stuck it on with strong double sided foam tape as I didn't want to drill into the rest :)

Sorry to seem ignorant mate but what's the rnsd and tmc?

So I re-jigged the bumper and the FMiC fitment yesterday so off the bumper came again!

to get a little more clearance I shaved off some plastic around the fog surrounds and removed the centre grill and replaced with mesh, I think it suits the aggressive look much better!
