Hi all,

I trusted a company I beleived reputable with a Kufatec Fiscon install in my wife's A3. I scanned the car today and found all is not well as the radio is not coded properly. As I probably should have done in the first place, I hope to sort this myself.

My obstacle is despite operating, the radio now seems to be completely incorrectly coded and I don't know how it was originally coded to put it right.

Currently it looks like it is still not coded for the telephone, but is coded for North America!

The car is a UK 2011 A3 2.0 TDI Sportback with non-Bose Concert radio, no CD changer, aux in, multi function steering wheel and now telephone.

* How should a non-bose sportback be coded regards Sound System Correction?

* How should it be coded regards Options 2?

If I knew the answers to the 2 questions above, I can build the correct code.

The steering wheel is not coded for the telephone either (although the telephone function works), but at least looks correct as it would have been pre-telephone and is not throwing a DTC, so this I can code properly easilly enough. Maybe even the CAN is not coded, I've not check yet. I am annoyed as I could have done this myself, but went with a "professional" install for peace of mind.

Fingers crossed someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Graham

Who was the company?

Is it an SE, Sline or Sport, has it got rear speakers, leather?

Try this one: 0710321

Hi Nigel.

Thanks for the reply. Luckily I have VCDS (from yourself) to spot this and hopefully correct.

It is a sport, cloth interior and has rear door speakers.

So if you think the sound correction should be a 2 and the options 2 a "1" then I am thinking: 0710221

I'll refrain from naming online until I have spoken to them. If they can convince me their new apprentice's grandmother was filling in and they otherwsie beleived she was up to the job I may let it pass.

Regards
Graham

I see no reason why feedback cant be given as to the quality of someone's work mate, it helps them to see where they're going wrong & correct that problem, otherwise nobody knows what there workmanship is like, people, like myself have to take the rough with the smooth.

Whats the current coding?

There will be feedback, but I want to see if their first response is before I do that.

I have to take back what I said about it coded for North Amercia I was getting tired last night and mixing up what code I was looking at. It looks now like they have just not coded the steering wheel or the radio and *maybe* not the CAN either. I am thinking it worked when it was plugged in and they left it at that.

Current radio coding is: 0310011

Which gives a "01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded" error.

However that code is feasible for a car of my spec without a telephone. The only anomoly is the options 1 digit does not indicate a TDI, but it is a 170PS so maybe they figured refined enough not to need to mention a diesel :D

So now taking the 0310011 as the original code, I will code the radio as 0710011.

CAN I will check and set so that telephone is enabled using the long coding helper if it is not already.

The MFSW is currently coded 0002042 and so that I will code 0003042.

Thanks for your help. I will do this this evening so if you read before then and disagree please shout!

I'll let you know how you get on.

I'm sure you'll work through it.

If it helps Radio coding pre and post Fiscon is:
*(MFSW, Bose, Aux Audio, iPod, Syn2+, leather, rear speakers)

Coding: 0330201 Pre
Coding: 0730201 Post

Plus this new Address came up in VCDS after the Fiscon was plugged in.

Address 77: Telephone Labels: None
Part No SW: KTC 364 29B HW: KTC 364 29B
Component: SWP:3.24.7 H24 0210
Revision: 00000000 Serial number: 00000000000000
Shop #: WSC 21977 142 74100

My conclusion is the radio and steering wheel had not been coded. The plus side of that is my original vehicle coding was intact after all. The only coding that the installer had done was to enable the telephone in the CAN gateway. I assume this is the minimum for it to function. It was however causing a reoccurring DTC for the CAN gateway and radio.

I coded the radio and MFSW as above and all is well, codes cleared and not returning.

Thanks for the help and encouragement.
