Just thought I would introduce myself here firstly. I am Iain, I am 24 and come from Darlington, Co. Durham. I recently bought a 2008 57 plate A3 2.0tdi 170 in brilliant red with 52k on the clock. I am not mad into mods like I was when I was younger or our kid is but I am planning to do a few tasetful ones. I must say I am enjoying the Audi experience and it feels much more refined than the Leon FR which I nearly got another one of.

So far its had a ECU re-map, pressed metal plates with surrounds and has been debadged, plus a few other bits and pieces to tidy it up. Its going to Custom Tints soon to have the rear three windows 65% tints. i also need to replace the rear wiper washer motor as it appears not to be working.

It came with 18'' S5 reps and I have a set of 17'' A3 alloys I plan to get winter tyres fitted too. The alloys are mint apart from front drivers side which was kerbed. These have crap Jinyu tyres on frotn and back though so I am looking to get either Pirelli P Zeros, Avon ZV5 or Nankangs fitted on the front soon. I may be interested in some part worns though if they have atleast 6mm on them all round. I am also on the look out for either a set of MY09 (which I think suit the car best perhaps?) or MY11 rear lights to go on it.

Generally the paintwork is in great shape minus a small overun on the bootlid (factory?), a couple of chips on the leading edge of the bonnet and a scratches to the boot and door ahndles. I am going to correct the paintwork and maybe get the front bumper resprayed to cover the two areas where it has chipped and the lacquer has peeled.

Welcome to the site.

I can supply a set of 3dr 09 or 11 lights delivered if interested.

Also if any oem technology mods are of interest, we can supply/fit most of them :)

Thanks NHN I will send you a PM and get prices. Are you a parts supplier or dealer?

I do installations of oem technology, sometimes supply a few parts, but mostly supply/fit :)

Nigel I sent you a PM yesterday but am not sure if you got it (do I need to get so many posts on here before I can use PMs?). If you could get back to me with a price that would be great. Spoke to Teesside Audi but got the feeling they were having my eyes out!

I do have some pics of when I first prepared the car I can post. I have only clayed it and waxed it properly the once but it does get washed every week. I do a lot of miles a week and it goes on small country roads, farm lanes etc which is why I can't get it lowered despite wanting too. At them moment its getting covered in pollen from the trees, not to mention caked in flies and bug and I'm surprised at the amount of brake dust it coats the alloys with. To be fair the car was well looked after as it was a lease car then privately owned and did next to no miles for 2 years. I have polished it but the swirl marks are still visible and I was either wanting to set aside a day for redoing it or looking at getting it machine polished. My only concerns are that there are a few nasty bare metal chips which need touching up and lacquering first before polishing out. Its never going to be immaculate as due to using it for work daily it would be hard to keep but I want to at least keep it tidy.

Don't worry mate, got it just going through all emails & pm's.

Cheers bud got to go back to work now though :(

I detailed my car today so took a few quick pics on my phone when I was finished. Unfortunately we had a few unexpected light rainshowers and the results weren't as good as i was hoping for but it still looks ok.

Full wash, Iron X, Tar remover, alloyys cleaned with Bilberry, clay bar, wash, 1x hit with Ultimate compound to remove individual scratches, 2x hits with AG SRP to remove most of the swirls, 2x no. layers of Megs Ultimate wax. All the interior was hoovered and shamppod, AG vinyl and rubber on dash and panel, windows cleaned inside with shower cleaner, windows cleaned externally with AG Fast Glass rubber trim blacked with AG and tyres polished with AG vinyl and rubber. Think thats about it took about 6 hours all told with a helper.

I'd be intrested to see if you (NHN) could supply the OEM B&O lights? Mine didn't come with the lighting package.

Cheers Toby.

Lovely car, the paint looks fab in them pics!

I would sort that rear wiper arm out though before it starts eating into the paint,

Bang & Olufsen lights, didn't realise the B8 had speaker grill lights.

The pics were meant to also show the bad points like the kerbed alloy, bare metal stone chips, laquer peel and scratches. They are worse than in the pics and do need sorting out.

Yes the rear wiper needs fixing, it had already marked the paint but it polished out. The rear water pump has gone and is getting fixed next week.

Next weekend it is going up to Custom Tints to get the rea three done with 65% tints. I have spoke to Nigel and will order some MY09 or MY11 lights at the end of the month (can't decide which look best?).

I am considering gettign the grill plasti dipped in matt black and getting the fog surrounds done. I also want to get it lowered but have held off as i do a lot of miles in the Yorkshire Dales and it does go down farm lanes. If it didn't I would get a Seat Leon splitter fitted. I am contemplating changing alloys as the tyres on them are crap and i like the look of the 5 spoke rotor copies. Mine is running on a set of 3 Jinyus and a Fullrun and is going to get either two Pirrelli P Zeros, Avon ZV5 or Nankangs on the front soon as grip on the wet is poor.
