I've always been into my Japanese vehicles supras skylines 200sx's etc but due having to be a grown up and buy houses and stuff settled on a S2000 but i've always tried to keep them off the road over the winter so have had Jeeps and other 4x4's. So after selling my 4.0 Cherokee i was looking for something 4WD and comfyish with a bit of street cred and a 5 o'clock ebay session at work had me setting off to the other side of the country for a B6 A4 1.8T Quattro Sport that someone had taken in PX against there car it was scruffy and well used but had full audi SH and was the right price.

This is what i bought.

So after driving back in a blizzard across the peak district i realised i had a cold heater blower a temp gauge that dropped at speed and various electrical gremlins. So first job was to inspect and repair the door looms much to the amusment of my missus when she came in from work then the next day drop a new thermostat (i can see why the previous owner didnt with the price!) and flush the cooling system.

Next job was upgrade the headlight to something other than headlights that resembled candles!! eBay HID kit it is then.

As it's been a while since i had a turbo car i was quite excited about getting one but WHAT a dissapointment this was sod all boost and no noises whatsoever. First job make some turbo noises and refresh all the vac hoses etc. TIP ordered as a starting point for a induction kit that i soon realised that was hardly availible and if it was it was massivly overpriced! So i made my own. Also as i planned to up the boost i replaced the tired OE diverter valve with the 710N and deleted the N239 (or something) boost control valve to let my throttle control the boost rather than the ECU

Loads more noises and alot better throttle response but still slow as hell ............

Noticed i had a rear numberplate light out so upgraded to some CRE goodness

Before i go anyfurther with the car i decided i needed to make sure the car was making the boost it was meant to be making in the first place so i invested in a gauge and southbend?!? pod.

Started a pile of bit to fit in the futrure

The rocker cover was doing a impression of Niagra Falls so while it was off for a new gasket i decided to continue my red and black theme.

Couldln't get the stains and water marks out of the horrific light grey interior so i've created myself another job by swapping in some Leon FR seats i won on eBay. SO now i need a black rear bench and other bits. nothing like keeping it in the family..........

Then NEEDED to get rid of the wood trim so did a bit of wapppping init bruv

Then while browsing this forums looking for a solution to central locking problem ive got i came across the exact spec wheels i had planned for this car just that i wasn't planning on buying them now but hey! A quick two and a half hours blast down the motorway after work and i met a nice bloke called AZ on here who is a complete pervert ( the good kind ) when it comes to his car ;)

So instead of sorting my central locking problem i fitted some wheels and now need coilovers to sort out my horrific ride height!

But at least it filled the arches out

And this is where im currently, still got a slow car thats sat 20FT in the air with a central locking problem and mismatched interior!

Looking like its coming along nicely! - How long have you had it for?

Ebay Xenons were probably one of the best mods I did - the standard Elton John halogens (candle in the wind) are pants.

Since March, its gettting there im a bit anal about cars and feel embarased driving standard ones. I need to grow up really and just getting a boring car or maybe not.................
I need to get this one sorted really cos i want to sell the S2000 and build a turbo MK1 MX5 as a noisey toy.

Looking good top work so far I always preferred japs had an Impreza 555 before my a4 this was suppose to be my grown up car that I wouldn't touch but little mods have started sure it will sanowball sooner or later

I hate you ..... those wheels and tyres were almost mine :sob: i'm only jesting car looks tip top i was gutted about the wheels though ..... whats next on the list ???

Yeah he mentioned someone else was interested sorry pal but been looking for a set in these sizes for ages! So I couldn't resist. Next on the list is coilovers which I ordered yesterday so hopefully should chuck em on this weekend if they land in time and oh yeah the never ending central locking issue!

Hey Adam,

Good to see some pics of the car! Wheels look great on it, make a massive difference to the look of the car don't they! Glad your happy with them. :)

S2k is looking good too, but the turbo mk1 mx5 will be more fun in the real world so can't say I blame you for wanting to sell up the s2k to fund the project, as I said to you the s2k I used to own was a bit of a disappointment. (And I'm a big Honda/jap car fan too)

Don't let my car influence you in any way though will you....... :p

To be honest i thought you car was a bit of heap to be honest :moa:

Like i said last night looking at my steering wheel and shift knob just isnt the same after seeeing the difference yours makes! I really hate copying other peoples stuff so im trying my hardest to find something OEM that brings the interior upto date.

Were in the process of moving house at the moment so MX5 will have to wait a bit but im really looking forward to a lightweight RWD turbo car to go a bit mental in ;)

Is this the wheel you were on about ? Audi a3 a4 spoke 3 steering wheel with airbag Genuine | eBay

Schaweet - coilovers were one of my best mods. Which ones did you go for?

Usual TA Technix ive had a few sets before on other cars before and other than been a bit soft spring rate wise they seem to ride pretty well.
I've even done trackdays on some before and they've coped! I've spent upto 1200 before on coilovers and to be honest my driving routine doesnt warrant spending the money anymore as i only go to work and back with occasional b road blast.

what was involved in fitting the FR seats?

Dont steal my ideas!!

Bolt straight in ish BUT you need to weld on some brackets as the standard seat belts attatch to the seat in the A4 but not in the Leon.

Yeah! Don't steal my ideas!!...........wheels, steering wheel, gear knob......... :p

I'm purposely trying not to do the same wheel and knob but all I can say a out the wheels is great minds think alike ;)

Weather was a bit hit and miss today so decided not to tackle coilovers so instead after checking some wiring I gave the engine a clean

Looking good did you cover anything to clean the engine or did you not hose it etc

No hose i just remove stuff and wash it with soap and water or spray in a degreaser etc.

Fitted some exhaust trims to brighten up the rear end

Where did you get the trims from look well I need to this and replace my little ones

Had a bit of a flat spot that was annoying me and the car didn't feel very lively at all so tonight it fitted a set of coil packs and a new MAF.
Car drives sooo much better and crisper.

your cars coming on nicely what an improvement and i love the wheels ! we too have a long line of jap cars in our previous car history... even this morning we were debating wether we miss our nissan r34 or not ....Even though we replaced it for an s4 we realised that we love the comfort and quality of our audis but we miss the drivability of the skyline! Im afraid once you have cars in your blood youll always be spending money on making your car that little bit better!!!

Oooooo, if that was an R34 GTR you had previous to the S4 I'd have to take the skyline every time! (Flame suit on).......

Yep gotta agree these Audi's feel "soft" comapred to tinny fast jap stuff but you know the difference as soon as you shut a door :)

Couldn't decide on a steering wheel so I moved away from oem and bought something I used on numerous jap cars and went with a nardi deepcorn wheel.
Coilovers go on sat morning so that should cure my illegal ride height. Got a couple of fresh tyres for the front so all 4 match and booked in for alignment Tuesday.

Also booked in for mapping in the morning so should be faster and lower by sat afternoon!!

Coming along very nicely. Some sweet wheels there, I'm jealous.

Not a very constructive weekend as the sun was blazing and I thought stuff it im off to a beer garden.

Managed to swap my knackered snub mount with a fresh one which I then filled with polyurethane to stiffen it up.

Then I fitted a new wheel to freshen up the interior as I HATED the standard wheel.

Oh yeah I forgot I had Ben from MAS Performance remap the car to his stage one map. This has absolutely transformed the car it actually feels turbo'd now. The car picks up and pulls now instead and you can actually enjoy B roads just need to sort out the exhaust now to free it up a little more at the top end.......... this might get addictive.

Need to stop fiddling really and get on with a new RWD project as i'm missing wheel spin ;)

So had a chance to borrow a ramp this morning so lowering commenced!

I was sweating by the time I took the wheels off 30 degrees is not the temperature to fit suspension in!
