I've always seen the S3 marked as 1420kg. Surely it can't be more :/ The difference between a TQS and an S3 did surprise me, considering the difference has to be the seats and a few other minor bits ?

My S3 is 1480kg.....took it on a weighing bridge round the corner from me just after Xmas.

That was with 1/3rd of a tank of fuel....original S3 17 Ronal alloys with winter rubber on, SAI pump on the car, sunroof and without me in it..

Each S3 is going to be a different weight and at a guess that could be around 50kgs difference depending on the spec of the car. I wouldn't rely on the sticker on the back tbh because as said above, you may have added/removed things - and I'm not even sure what the weight on that sticker is related to in terms of; with full fluids or without?

No argument intended here....

When I fitted the S3 seats immediately after I could physically feel the weight, my S3 leathers weigh an easy 40kg's more than the cloth sport seats I took out. The pimpness of them outweighs that though.

Phil could feel the difference in saving the weight in his TQS as well.

Theoretically you could get an S3 to the weight of a TQS just by down spec'ing it. And then weight saving over that.

I think 1320 would probably be the lowest weight achievable for an S3, realistically. Would be a weapon if you could.

You could go lower though, S3 bumpers are considerably heavier than A3 bumpers, leather door cards, arm rests etc, glass weighs a ton.

If I went to town on my S3 I'd swage out all the panels, replace the door cards with carbon fibre, remove the carpets, sound deadening, the lot an I think a lot more weight could be shed. My mate managed to swage out 25kgs in body panel bits alone on his track M3

I guess a sunroof makes a difference too. Bad place to have weight so high up as well. Not sure I could go to the level of perspex windows though. The reason I got the S3 is the nice black and leather interior (not boggo spec) and it's quick and AWD. Might not be the quickest but as much as you hate it, telling people you have an S3 sounds way better than an A3.

yeah that's ridiculous the difference between TQS and S3 I need to shed some weight really shocked that a car so small can weigh nearly 1.5 tone I had a Volvo v70 d5 that didn't weigh that lol even the golf is 200kg lighter wtf

Just as I thought....entry was superb and looks great...it's just a bit shaky and not so tidy on the way out - so ****** hard to get 1.5 tonnes of S3 in shape after going sideways!
