Wheels for 2004 1.8T Quattro Sport Avant 190

Hi there

I have a 2004 (53 plate) Audi A4 Avant 1.8T Quattro Sport. It's got the standard 17" 5 spoke wheels on it.

I'm looking to get the 18" old RS6 style wheels from ebay that were standard on the S Line models but am getting very confused because 18" wheels seem to come in different widths, etc?!

I was thinking of getting these but am unsure if they will fit my car?

AUDI PART NUMBER: 8E0 601 025 S

5 X 112 PCD

7.5 J X 18H2

ET 54 (offset)

Does anyone know anything about this sort of thing? And which tires would then fit on these wheels?

I also wonder is it possible to get locking wheel nuts from an Audi dealer that would fit these wheels??

Hi.

As soon as your post count lets you, do a search in the b6 forum (advanced search function) there's also some info in a sticky in the diy thread

Those you've listed are a 'narrow' offset (the ET is large) standard A4 B6 wheels are et43-45 and a lot of people here go to an ET of 33-35 (i'm running et35 and 8.5" rims).

Standard tyres are 235 40 18 for an 18" rim (these were standard on the s4 and an option on the 'range' )- this keep the speedo (similar rolling radius) close to original (overall diameter like or very close to your std tyres)

Some on here use 225 40 18 as tyres are cheaper but speedo reads a little more out.

Standard rims (Audi OEM, ronal etc) use radius wheel bolts - hence a set of Audi locking bolts will fit (you may need to check the length compared to the standard ones (if you fit spacers etc) and in fact the bolts you have should be fine to re-use (gert some locking ones if you haven't already and simply swap 4 of them).

Aftermarket rims use tapered bolts and mustn't use or mix with standard bolts (aftermarket locking bolts are available too).

simply yes. google for a proper explanation of et.

your rims at 7.5 are a bit narrow, as std audi rims are 8 inch for an 18.
with an et of 54 the whole wheel will sit 9mm further in too

so you'll have narrow rims tucked further in than your current ones

you could reduce the offset to 34 by adding 20mm spacers (cost) but you'll have to use v long wheel bolts (cost) and why?

as 18 x 8 et 43-5 oem rims are pretty readily available...

or if they're really really cheap you could use them with 20mm spacers and 225 40 18 tyress (which are about the cheapest 18" tyre going) and looooong bolts and they'd sit right out like the stance-boys.

It's personal preference I tend to be a little OCD and use OEM fitment / size wherever possible - but have 18x8.5et35 zenders just ot prove I'm not totally anal:haha:

Not sure what 'style' your referring (like I said i'm a bit anal and have S4 Avus') to you mean 'fat fives' (the real chunky five spokes)?

ebay / classifieds on here / gumtree (sometimes) put a wanted 'ad' up....

That's exactly what i want. But what are 'spacers' and what do they do?? (sorry!)
 
Basically a chunk of metal that sits between your hub and wheel to make the wheel sit further out the car. Search on ebay for wheel spacers and you'll soon see what they are.

Good luck finding some wheels.

I had trawled ebay and have not had any joy getting hold of these RS6 style wheels! Any other ideas anybody? I am willing to pay a small 'finders fee' for anyone who can help sourced these wheels!
 
Ive just had a lookon ebay theres loada of genuine rs6 wheels for sale at the moment
 
These will both fit your car they are genuine audi wheels and have the correct offset
 
The standard offset between a avant and saloon are 3mm different not gna make any sort of difference on the carthey sit way to far in to become a problem

Generally stick between an offset of 35 to 45 nothing more nothing less if your buying 8j wheels or lower

What tires should I use? (My car currently runs on 17" Audi OEM alloys so I presume i need to get lower profile?)

Yes they'll fit fine, and the tire size currently on them is OEM, so will keep your rolling circumference almost identical, which is what you want!

I have kumho's on my 17's and quite like them actually, was recommended them by a fellow member on here. My 18's have some no name brand, sunfull or something, and they're awful.

Not Fullrun by any chance? My old A4 had those on the rear from the dealer and I've never lost the back end so many times as I did with those - and that even includes on my old 200sx!
 
But back onto topic... I seem to remember that et54 will be a3 wheels - as has been said A4 offset is around et35-42.
 
I have ET32 with 8.5x18 wheels on mine and it sits and clears all arches fine. The face of the wheel is flush with the car wings.
 
Just wanted to say thank you ALL for providing so much useful information. Being someone who has very little car knowledge I found you guys the only real good source of info and it allowed me to make a good decision - i'm happy with my new wheels! (Pic below)

On another odd note when I had the wheels fitted the guys said the car at the rear looked ridiculously low, as though the suspension was broken. I must admit that the car crashes terribly over bumps and the wheels at the rear seem to sit very high up into the body (i.e. the car seems to look 'lowered' at the back). But they examined the springs and they were not broken. Any ideas?

Does your car have a tow bar? If it does could have been used for towing a caravan or a trailer which over time will make the springs sag. Also being an estate it's most probably carried a fair amount of weight over its life.
Perhaps you should invest in a new pair of springs and shocks for the rear.
Plus looking at the picture of the car it would appear to be a "Sport" model which is 20mm lower than a standard car to start with.
 
Ah no, i found some other ones but ended up driving 5 hours to get them! But there were a great buy and in fantastic condition. Only bummer is now there is a squeaking sound from the car engine and the 'ECON' light is permanently lit. My local mechanic thinks the compressor or entire aircon unit is broken! I love the car so will probably just pay to get it sorted. Next stop Milltek exhaust - don't know which one to get? Is there a big difference between 90mm and 100mm trims??

B6's always sit 10-15mm lower at the back than the front, that's why a lot of people fit B5 spring perches to drop the front down to equalise it.
 
As James says above......ref the econ light that ususally means the ac gas levels are below min, so in short you need the system regassed.
 
Erm not a massive difference but I went for 100mm tips as they fill ou5 the rear holes in bumper perfectly
 
The econ light could also be the sensor that sits on the air con rad at the front. Changed mine yesterday, took about ten minutes to do and have my air con back now. Part was £56 from the dealers. Easy job.

Wheels look great also. Would like a set for mine really. How is the ride now?
