Im thinking about remapping my car, would a remap help mpg, ive spoke to a few ecu remappers in the UK, that will come to my location from £140-£200

How much would you normally pay for a remap, and is it going to harm my vehicle ??

Thank you

Stuart Elliot

£140-£200 seems a little too cheap for a remap from someone reputable...

And sorry for being so dumb when i uploaded my post...

You have a diesel Audi....100k is barely worn in! lol

btw- as your car is brand new....not to sure on whether Audi would void you warranty if you get it remapped.

How many miles on average should you get from a Audi Diesel ??

I dont want to void warrenty now you worried me a little. Can they detect its been done ?? Or could i reverse the remap if i have problems.

I was also thinking of other mods. but not sure what to do. i just want power. not fussed about MPG.. anything you guys can recommend..

The std editor will parse links and get the title of the page you have linked to and display that rather than the actual URL... this can be turned off in the advanced editor...

Ive decided to use a company in Yorkshire bit closer to me called Masperformance they do ecu remapping a bit closer to me

ECU Remapping | Chip Tuning | Diesel Tuning | Rolling Road | ECU Remap | DPF Removal

they are charging £180 and they will come to me, any one got any advice for me or bad feedback about Remapping??..

According to colleague who is an Audi Master Tech they can always tell if an engine has been remapped, even if the remapping has been reversed. But having said that he said most dealers would only be interested if any problem was directly related to the engine.

I currently drive an 8P 2.0TDI-170 Sportback. My previous car was a 2.0TDI-140 which I had remapped to around 170-175. My current car is so much smoother in the way the power is delivered than the remapped 140.

Have you checked if your insurance company will insure a remapped car and if so how much extra premium they will want.

I have had personal experience of 'come to you and chuck a generic map on' type remapper, working from his driveway usually for beer money.
Whilst the map i replaced it with from Awesome Gti isnt fantastic, id still recomend an established specialist over the driveway generic stuff. Especially with a new moter.

Good luck with it but imo if it was my car knowing what i do now, id probably use somebody like VW specialist in lincoln who are authorised revo dealers. Both a specialist garage, and a well known mapping name. Also the likes of Darkside Developments in barnsley, specialist in derv and have rolling road and mapping facilities.

The 150 TDI is the new 8V and requires ECU out job so someone thats going to do that on your driveway is taking a gamble on weather/conditions as the ECU has to be opened up and bench remapped. This is after he has removed/drilled out/hacksawn off the shear bolts that hold the cradle in.......these are the biggest tell-tale signs that your ECU has been removed. I have seen many bodge jobs on trying to remove ECU cradles and on such a new car under warranty I personally would think twice about using someone that charges that price for doing it......way too cheap. All the top companies have dealers that can do it but do your research first before committing to it.

I agree. There is no way I would let someone mess about with the ECU on a new car on my driveway. May be with the older cars where the remap could be done through the diagnostic port but that is no longer possible. I would want any car of mine done by a specialist in a proper workshop with all the necessary facilities including a rolling road to test it once it had been done together with a guarantee to reverse it if I did not like the result.

I agree with the above and also have a brand spanking new 13 plate I want remapped! Took it to P-Torque last month and the ECU software has changed so is currently with the software developers to be de-encrypted. It will be going back to them as soon as this has been done for full DPF removal and remap. These are great cars but after a remapped Leon FR it's sluggish as hell!

Stay away from flash mappers and get it done on a rolling road so you can see what's been done - not worth the risk with cars of this value!
