Missed the bird box, slammed into the wall & fell to the slabbed patio beside me.

He doesn't seem to want to fly again! What do I do with him?

Put a For Sale sign on his house?

Awww, bless! What a little cutie. Glad he's flew off OK. (For future reference, I would've called the RSPCA)

I only get stupid wood pigeons & starlings in my garden. One of the downsides of having a garden so small there's no trees for the prettier birds to nest in. :(

Glad it all ended well! I could never be a vet! Too much of a wimp when it comes to animals!

You don't need trees in your garden, just put a birdbox up somewhere cats can't get to it, in a year or two something (maybe finches, dependent on the size of the opening) will take up residence.

They prefer boxes\houses to tree nesting too, as it means Magpies & the like can't get to their eggs to steal them. :icon_thumright:

RSPCA are not bothered about birds, and even the RSPB, whose head office is just a couple of miles from me, they are also not bothered. A charity set up to protect birds, and when I called them to say I had found 3 fledglings, they told me they were not interested.

I spent ages finding a home for them, a lovely lady who took on fledglings, I had to drive for 2 hours to get to her, and I gave her £20 for some grub, and she took them on.

RSPB are such snobs. Honest. They don't give a stuff.

I've got a lovely bird feeder in my garden that the pretty little birds just won't visit. Probably because 2 of my neighbours have cats (& next doors cat likes to "visit" my garden...) I'm going to try to get some kind of cat deterrent this summer I think. Might put a bird box on my shed. Can't really put it on the house - plus I'd never see them if I did! :)

Knew the RSPB wouldn't be bothered, but thought the RSPCA would at least be able to give some guidance over the phone...

Good for you mate, at least someone gives a toss about the animals in this world, I'd buy you a beer anytime :)

Carpet gripper nailed to the fence will keep them out mate or Prikka Strip

I fcuking hate cats - they crap on my front lawn and on the bark in my kids' play area out the back and I have to clean up their mess.

had a little finch thingy do that a few years back, went into the patio windows. same thing - sat on the pavement looking up at me w/ a dazed expression but flitted off a few minutes later. they're fairly resilient it would seem. had a pigeon hit the back bedroom window too, left a big perfect dust angel inprint.
