Stacey's Belated Yo Yo Build Thread

Ah... ******... didn't think of that LOL... I asked Bill to weld mine...

Ah well... it is due to be modded to feck anyway :)

Due to be modded to feck anyway....you rearanging some hotside components? ;)

I got this, i know its egt but you can add modules to it and its touchscreen..

PLX DM-6 Multi Gauge with Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Module SM-EGT | eBay

Cheers Dave am looking at lots of options at the mo....ideally want boost, AFR and oil pressure...oil temp would be nice but dont want to clutter to much with gauges

If going the gauge route im thinking of either making a triple gauge holder to go in the gap below the radio and getting rid of the cubby hole or other gauge route would be the double steering column mount like Andrew

It all swings on wether I can find some gauges I like the looks of as stack dont do a mechanical boost gauge that goes over 2 bar and of coarse got to wait and see what it will happily run at boost wise :)

Lovely cheers...cant believe they make them to order?

Hoping that if 3.5" is possible it will aid spool? Although I'm sure the 3" cat back should also help?

Knew there was something else meant to ask you on the phone earlier. ... would you be able to put an extra lambda bung in as will be putting an afr gauge in once have decided a brand of gauges will be using (as want it to match the boost gauge once we see what boost range will be needed)

Cheers

cat? Am I fitting a cat? I will make a removable section for either front silencer OR cat.. Is that what you want?
let me know dude
cheers

Picked up my old block and head from my local machinists and they confirmed my suspicions

The block on the back corner of cylinder 1 by the oil feed was 5 thou lower than the rest of the block deck, this will definately be the reason why I kept having oil leaks from there after the rebuild until I used gasket sealant (which im not proud of lol

Just got to reasemble this weekend all being well then it will work its way on to gaybay ;)

Yeah sorry will be making its way onto ebay lol

Have got to try and claw as much £££ back as possible from selling bits now

oh yea, so it does.

I'm so used to seeing people refered to as Gayboy, that I assumed you'd sold it to Karl

Hey mate, I just realised you're not running a girdle. Did you consider it? David Blais (owner of IE) added me on FB today and I had a chat about the spec for a 500hp build and he mentioned the girdle. He said the billet main caps are for pretty serious builds so might be a bit much but they do mean a bit less machining to fit the girdle. I'm thinking I'll get one for my build but leave the main caps standard.

I finally got some specs for mine out of the guy doing the build:
+ 1mm Ferrea exhaust/inlet valves
Ferrea spring + retainer kit
JE 83mm pistons
TFSI crank + oil pump
IE rifle drilled rods
IE inlet
Wavetrac diff

...and I'll be ordering an IE girdle, forge baffled sump, Hemi TB, IE rail, timing belt gear + dowel pins, manual tensioner and the fluidampr like you. Not cheap eh? Not sure what else to get?

Thats a wicked spec mate....not sure if a girdle is needed but it certinally wont do any harm ;)

A set of cams would really set it off, but cant think of much else engine spec wise?

Sorry only just seen this....that looks like another lovely bit of kit from IE :)

Well the misses has eventually started to understand that a decent bucket seat and harness's are worth having for safety (well sort of) and ive gone ahead and bought one ;)

Will post up pics in a bit....

Posted in here just for reference

I found some interesting info on my turbo eventually as never been able to find much, not sure if its the exact wheels but seems like the bigger comp and smaller turbine are pretty close size wise (within half a mm but will check part numbers when near the turbo)

Screenshot_2013-05-31-23-07-16_zps4ac0482d.png

Looking at the comp map I must of been getting nearly every ounce of air out of the comp wheel possible

It seems they do also a bigger turbine with the exducer being pretty much same size as a gt30 where as mine is neary the same exducer as a gt28 im comparison

Pretty sure ive said it before but will look like a work of art once finished

It feels a shame to cover up lovely bits of engineering like the mani and the downpipe will be with heat management items like wrap and ceramic

The dairy bends are pretty awesome. I had an inlet manifold fabricated using them yonks back. Awesome quality.

Get it finished already ;)

and there's a teaser..... 4" out of turbo, transitions into 3.5" which will just fit past prop, and then into 3" for rest of system

944831_383379051780186_1315478989_n.jpg

and into 3.5"

970563_383388341779257_1100666691_n.jpg

and some figures showing the relative cross sectional area differences between 3", 3.5" & 4" tubes

Code:
Tube	diameter	radius	pi	CSA ^mm
3"	72.7	36.35	3.1415927	4151
3.5"	86	43	3.1415927	5809
4"	97.5	48.75	3.1415927	7466

A slight pause whilst ordered 3.5" vband clamps arrive... so the downpipe can be actually installed, in 2 pieces.

Nice work Bill

Where is the external waste gate going to meet the down pipe?

somewhere after the prop, and I think its going to pass the other side of the prop looking how things sit... stupid tight as you know..

external gate pipe will be 50mm tube also.. same as my ibiza.

Looking brilliant Bill didn't catch the second pic last night, looks tight :)

Yeah of coarse screamer pipe straight out of the bonnet lol

Only joking on the screamer, not sure how bills planned it as of yet but sure it will be shoe horned into a gap in the tunnel somewhere

I forgot to put up pics of the new bucket seat...

Another with the little one

It should hold her nicely in the S3 ;)

But for some reason the Mrs still cant (want to) accept that i'd be safer with buckets, harness's and a cage...one day maybe?

Wow that downpipe I saw on FB and looks sexy. Can't wait to see what this runs like! And that recaro seat is ace lol!

You may be safer with bucket seats, harness and a cage but would you be safe from the mrs if you went out and bought them is more the point lol

You will beat my old figure of 531 bhp I bet by the looks of it

Would love to think so but will have to wait and see....

The more i look at them pipes the more i cant believe its going to fit in that space stricken engine bay, think it should flow very nicely and hopefully spool reasonably quickly :)

Lol at the rest of you guys :lmfao:

what engine mounts do you have? gonna need to be pretty solid in there
