Custom making map sensor pipe

Was wondering guys if it would make any difference making a map sensor pipe. For some reason I've just only noticed I've got 63mm pipe from turbo to end of charge pipe then drops to 53mm back into 63mm to 76mm inter cooler and out to 63mm again up to map sensor pipe which is 53 mm and 53mm throttle body pipe and 63mm throttle body.
Does this not mean the map sensor pipe is restricting everything as the pipe aren't hard to change but the map sensor pipe is. What u guys think
 
Buy a map flange/adaptor from forge and get it welded to a piece of alloy pipe.
 
Was thinking somate like that dan with a 63mm aluminium pipe modded to reach the throttle body some how
 
I just think it would flow better with a bigger pipe rather than a smaller one Ie restriction or less volume of air passing through
 
This is what you want fella... I'm getting pipework fabricated from my cooler to my 75mm Throttle Body..... With this incorporated...

The gains from up-sizing the pipework will vary but the basics are the tighter the hole the more boost required to obtain a target airflow... going 63mm all round will improve overall flow but only if the rest of the charge system has no restrictions too...

You will benefit from 63mm from 300hp up... there are various theories about pipework sizing and most people that are on 500hp or more use 70mm pipework but tbh for a road car 63mm is more than enough...

The OE MAP tube is an odd shape and a little constricted in places... while its not the end of the world if you leave it in place should you decide to change it I would suggest you plan the pipework out accordingly as I have seen some real bodge jobs in the past and it defeats the object.... I relocated my battery to get a decent path... either of the charge pipe sections I made would improve flow potential but just replacing the MAP tube is probably not worth the effort unless redoing that whole section...

Andrew, seriously dude... at your levels you would really benefit from normalising the pipework... airspeeds alone generate heat and the volume of air and boost levels you will be running thats a lot of friction... larger pipework will drop overall airspeed and reduce heat generated by friction... will also require less boost to achieve power... worth considering in your case dude...

just because you can force an amount of air thru a smaller than ideal hole does'nt make it an efficient way of forcing it.

size it uniformly and of correct size. /End Of

The hole pipe is 27 from forge so what I was going to do is get that it's 270 mm long and 63mm ID then fabricate my own bit of pipe on onto the end and make something to reach the throttle body as well. I do want a good consistent flow all the way around so this is my opposition I think.

like we say its all about the flow same sized pipe not matter what has got to be better than it dropping to 53mm anywhere in the pipe line

Mine will be similar to this as my battery has been relocated to boot....I just need 63 to 75 silicone for my Throttle Body...
 
Chill guys

I have one made up for mine but just not fitted it as i hate taking the bumper off and was going to change it when i get a new bumper as mine has a bit of damage to it
 
Looks nice does that pipe. Ill be buying the forge one and adding some extra pipe so we will see why happens in a few week along with a large port inlet and Wmi
 
I don't fancy paying all that money for a inlet mani lol so ill make my own with some AEB runners and my s3 standered inlet
Lol..... I'm in that deep now mate a bit more doesn't really make a difference anymore.....
