2013 Audi S3

Magnetic ride and supper sports seats (without S3 logos) are available on the A3.

Ahh yes, I'd forgotten they'd added magnetic ride in the latest brochure! I'd not sure we can calculate anything about S3 seat pricing from the A3 pricelist though :-( Hopefully Audi will provide us with all the info we want before too long!

So Magnetic ride is £995 on the A3, probably similar on the S3 though we know that Drive Select will be standard. S-Line Super Sports seats are £795 on the A3, S3 items look more fancy so maybe £1000? Guess for LED Headlights is around £700-800 as Xenon's are standard (Based on German price in Euro's).

The other items should match the A3 prices. I'm guessing that a S3 will be £2500-3000 more than the equivalently specced 1.8l petrol Quattro.

Ordered! Estoril blue, s-tronic. Now for the wait!

Most of the options had pics, but their site is still a bit broken so some stuff is missing.

No brochure yet either.

Everything I wanted had pics so all worked for me.

Good to hear! :) Do keep us updated with build weeks, etc, when you know them!

Also, was there much of a deal to be had, or are they sticking to the usual "I can't give a discount on new models"?

Build is last week of July and delivery is 1st sept. whether it will stay that way, I don't know!

I got a little discount but nothing to sing about too loud ;)

Seems like a fast turnaround. You must be one of the first to order...

Is it a 3 or 5 door that you've gone for? Did you add a lot if options?

I've gone for 3 door, 5 door I think was 1st nov for the first deliveries.

Options are

Tech pack
Comfort pack
Int light
Pan roof
Advanced key
High beam assist
Folding mirrors
Privacy glass
B&o sound
Think that's it from memory

Crikey, congratulations! You are very fast out of the blocks.

When you say "their site is still a bit broken" do you mean the Audi UK site?

I got the phone call from the dealer this morning so there is no time like the present ;)

It's nothing that effects the ordering just some pics missing and things like that on their Configurator.

Good set of options, thanks for listing.

You weren't tempted by the LED Headlights?

What seats you gone for ?

Full LED light were top of my list too.

Seats are the standard in black and the led I had to think about for a long time but decided against due to cost.

Tech pack and colour were at the top of mine

The LED lights do look very expensive on other models

I can't remember tbh :/ I want to say it starts with a 7 but don't hold me to that. I was trying to remember them all but my brain isn't big enough

No probs, sorry about all the questions. £700 sounds about the level I was expecting and I won't come back and point fingers if it's more!

You now have to do your best to forget about your order for the next 2 months ;)

No worries, sorry I can't be more exact.

Unfortunately it's 3 months, gonna be a long wait. On a plus side I've waited 4 months already for them to start ordering so at least I'm over half way

The online configurator is always well behind - the audi connect pack still isn't on there for example, despite it being in the brochure for April!

greetings gents!

I've been another stealth user of this thread since Feb, sorry for not contributing until now! I've also been counting the days for the S3 (Sportback) to become available, my '06 2.0T quattro is due for an upgrade :)

I've just spoken to my local Audi dealer (Nottingham) and they say they do have the prices, but were a little cagey about pricing around options. I can confirm they said £31260 for the manual, and £32740 for the s-tronic (both Sportback), and that they would receive the first ones on the 1st of Nov.

I'm going to pop in to see them later this afternoon, so hopefully should come away with a better idea of costings (in particular the monthly cost on a 3yr PCP deal).

I'm not 100% sure whether to get the s-tronic or not; reviews of it on different engines seem a little hit and miss. I'd hate it to be either jerky, or very slow to respond when changing down for an overtake etc.

BTW, does anyone know if cruise control is standard on either the manual or s-tronic?

For what it's worth, I was originally thinking a dark grey (it's the understated stealth performance of the S3 that attracts me among other things), but am now leaning towards the Estoril Blue too, as it looks beautiful in the pics I've seen. Unsure on other options... I'll have to have a proper read in to what's standard, or what comes in the different packs.

I'll let you know what the folks at Audi say later...

David

And another lurker coming in from the cold with the news!

I've been keeping an eye on this thread for the last couple of months and will be talking to one of the London dealers - either West London or Wimbledon - about the S3 Sportback in the next couple of days. If I can get any pricing for options then I'll post again as there seems to be a little bit of uncertainty at the moment.

David, I'd be interested to hear how you get on re: the PCP deal they are able to offer as I will likely go for a 3-4 year finance deal myself. (And hello from another forum newbie!)

I'll be sticking with manual. I've read good things about the S-tronic application in the S3 from the various reviews out there but I've always preferred a "proper" gearbox (plus the wife is not one for flappy paddles/auto boxes and she'll be driving it just as much as I do I suspect).

Colourwise it may have to be Phantom black. Plus tech pack, B&O sound, LED lights, hill hold assist and whatever else they talk me into :)

Am I the only one who's wary of LED lights?

Ok they are good, but in my experience still too unreliable.

How many cars less than a year old have you seen with the likes of a high level LED brake light with a few of them out?
I know I have, plenty.

At the cost of £300+ for a replacement, I think I'll stick with real bulbs for now until the technology's perfected...

When you gonna start Dealer talks then Toad ????

There's nothing wrong with the technology - LEDs are very reliable. I don't know why so many have lights out, but I bet the answer isn't just 'they have been sitting there ages' - possibly a big knock or something.

I'm not interested in the led lights I'd be happy with the xenons

i see audi don't do a towbar so will look into aftermarket

I had front and rear LED lights on my A4. Rear ones failed just inside the 3 yr warranty - one LED out on each side. They had to replace the whole light unit each time.

Up until that point, I'd have agreed that LEDs were more reliable. Now, not so sure they're a good idea on car lights unless you can user-replace one LED at a time.

Am I being blind, or is there no LED lights mentioned in the new brochure?

You are spot on. Would be pretty tragic if not offered... Anyone asked a dealer about them? The extended warranty cost is also missing for the S3 models. Unfortunately they dropped Dakota Grey for the S3 which is annoying.

On the plus side, standard kit on the S3 almost justifies the additional cost over an S-Line A3.

The extended 5 year warranty would justify the cost of replacing an LED unit...

Correction. The wife spotted on page 59 under the pic of the red S3 that LED lights would be available to order at a later date. +1 for Wifey :)

+1, xenons are enough for me and they're prettier IMO.

I'll reserve judgement till I see how much they cost ;)

Seriously though, the progressive nature of the lighting from a cluster of LEDs could be very good to give just the right amount of illumination for a given situation.

It would. Even though I've had Audi cars since the 90s, I wouldn't have one outside warranty anymore. If I was keeping it, I'd definitely purchase the extended warranty.

Some on the A4 forum have stripped the unit and replaced single LEDs though I think.

A nice touch for any iPhone owners:

"Important connectivity information: An external data source is required to enable the Audi connect online services. One of the two following external data sources can be used:
1. A mobile telephone with Bluetooth SIM Access Profile
2. A separate SIM card which can be inserted in the included SIM card reader. When a separate SIM card is used, hands
free phone calls are possible using the SIM card or by connecting a different mobile telephone via Bluetooth Hands Free Profile"

So I can stick a data SIM in the car for online features but still pair my phone for hands free as option 1 above does not work with an iPhone.

No dealer talks yet Snake - in fact I haven't heard from them! I wont contact them so as not to appear too eager!

It's good at last to get the Uk pricing and specs brochure :)
But very disappointed there is no LED headlight option :(

I think I will wait anyway for news on the LEDs, i saw them at Geneva and I reckon they are so special and close to being a must have!

Also by delaying I hope that there may be more movement on doing a better deal.

I note mxnrg's post about warranty. The 5 yr warranty to me is a must have - Surely it does apply to the S3 as it simply relates to the A3 range?

The service plan however - seems only valid for A3 3 dr ? - seems odd nothing for Sportback - must be a typo surely?

Effectively the super sport seats are only £600 as they include elec lumbar (which is £195 and which i would have specced anyway) so I am pretty sure I would have the super sports.

I am about to tot up my spec (obviously excluding the LEDs) so I better lie down before i get the calculator out :D
