Jardo's 'Journey to quattro' - My Story...

Never, the whole lot has got to be worth £500+ to somebody upgrading from a K03 or the like.

It's 245bhp style good nick.

The map is where the money is, but as has been proven time and time again you could go out and buy exactly the same bits and not get the same result. At least with this set up I could sell it to somebody (and they could buy it) knowing EXACTLY what it will deliver in a healthy car.

Anywho that's by the by, I have been made an offer on a more local forum of £500 posted and have also got a list as long as my arm of people who want the ECU. It's clearly more than a collection of parts; it is a collection of the best parts for the application which have provided one of the best results around.

Now to find K04 :)

You can guarantee results though mate. Very car is totally different.

As dan said, it's a bunch of parts, it's worth nothing as a package really.

Turbo £150-200, down pipe £60, FMIC £100, tip £50, and that's your lot really.

Niki is HUGELY against the sale of ecu's with his maps on to go onto other cars. Because his maps are 100% custom and tailored to get the most from each individual car, he really doesn't like it when people fit a 'mapped' ecu to another car. Ask him about it, he really properly hates it.

I need to talk to him anyway, Phil wants to get a Galletto setup and start doing some flashes for him and I. Depending on what Niki is happy to do mapping wise depends what and how I sell.

Confirmation of buying a K04 is also needed :)

Basic stage 1, nothing special. No rods.

Stock downpipe, manifold, cat and a B5 TIP. I'd be happy with the same power I have now in a more reliable and less stress format tbh.

If I had 260bhp I would be over the moon and the car would be under arguably less stress than it is now. The power I have and the delivery I have now is great, but if I am keeping the car for a while longer I would like to start with a basic K04 setup and work up again as I have with a K03.

Another smalllll update.

Went to Phils, had a proper hoon at ridiculously legal speeds. I can confirm that in the straights Ron does have a minor speed advantage, in the corners though my agility and turn it makes up for it. Until the wheels light up on corner exit...:p

This will please a lot of people...

I now have the fastest colour callipers.

The front is now 15mm ish lower.

After nearly three years, the wheels are still immaculate as the day there were fitted :)

A couple of bits of tar on this one, but all came out beautifully with som Iron X.

The beasts -

I boiled my brake and PAS fluid this morning, so a change will be due soon. Also a Brembo upgrade needs to happen on the cheap, if anybody knows of anything. Can only really afford £350 ish, don't mind a cosmetic refurb.

Properly sized tires helps a lot, but if I am brutally honest it is a ball ache. No drive through, no multi story car parks, no parallel parking on the near side, no pot holes or rough roads etc.

Lou drove them for two years every day, she put a small mark in one once on Valentines day night 2011. I was annihilated by a car riding home from work and she was rushing to get to me and bounced up a kerb to get through traffic. Had that wheel dipped and resprayed and that's it.

Prawn did 50k and five years on his, not a single mark. Pierre got them and ****ed them within weeks.

For anyone who is interested, I have found the company that sells the wheels -

Disks - WSP Italy W536 BOSTON

Not cheap! Especially seeing as they have £120 of genuine Audi centre caps and £250 worth of tires on them.

They're really light for what they are, comparable to S3 wheels.

I could easily pick one in each hand and walk around the workshop with them.

120 quid for center caps? They must have big windows at your local dealer. I got a set off eBay for $40!

I thought that was you! Just round the corner of the RN Arms this afternoon. And thanks, the exhaust does sound quite good. It's very quiet, and unoffensive.

The ones I was coat hangering off were the replica ones I bought on eBay; never again!

Are you joking? You fag! Ive not touched my wheels once doing most of the above and theyre on ****ty 35 profiles!! Mind you i park about 3 miles away from the curb. lol

It's the racing heritage you see; that exhaust has been round the ring quicker than any A3 in the world.

can i just point out that Ron left the black weapon for dead on the straights and the bends, well i had to back off just so Jardo knew where he was going :p

and i still had all of 6th left :)

Almost certainly Jay, I can't have Ron being quicker than me.

ANYWHERE.

No worries Erf, sorry things didn't work out last time we spoke.

If you do decide to go for them then ping me a quick message, things might be a bit different this time.

Flol.

You know when you drive a car that has a proper drive train, and you put your foot down and something happens in the boot which makes your willy feel funny and your marbles all tingly.

I want that feeling again.

Back in the day Lous baby A3 wanted to be like Prawns so badly, it looked up to it.

Before Prawn decided to build a track car I made numerous offers to buy his car whilst I was in used and neglected for months. In the end he wouldn't sell it to me. So I set about building a replica.

Four years ago Prawn used to give me his car for the day once a week and I would give him whatever shed I was driving and clean the **** out of his A3. After I was done I would take it up to Farley Mount and take pictures to show him what I had done. It was quite cool.

When I went home last month I took my car up to Farley, to the spot where I used to take Prawns car after I had drooled over it. I took some pictures, for old time sake.

:)

And the big brother.

Cool huh.
