Ok, im sorry, but im bored of searching lol.

My manifold has cracked, again!!! So not buying second hand again. Straight from TPS this time. This will be fine for a stage 2 remap right? Ive just messaged B5 about porting it, so may get that done. Already got a FMIC, forge TIP. So will a 3" downpipe, decat and back exhaust of my choice be suitable for a stage 2 revo? Think they take it up to 280bhp...

My apologies for being lazy again

Thanks, Rice

Was thinking JBS manifold, but i dont think theres any need as im not going for crazy power...

no need if not chasing crazy power,

yes you are right with your mods, but I would reccomend an r tech or b5 custom map with tiv...... That's seems to be the best on offer currently ! My friend seb ( guzzy on here) has an r tech stage 2 s3 and its wicked lol!

Ok thanks bud ill look into it :)

Bin (or sell) the forge tip and get a badger 5 tip. Much better for power!

Best mods to have
B5tip
FMIC
3"downpipe and exhaust
Aftermarket manifold.
You will defo need the above to reach 280bhp. And even with that lot there is still no guarantee.

If the mani is coming off you might as well fit a Relentless/XS Power manifold as they are the cheapest tubular ones around and are proven to unleash a lot of power.

Also 280bhp will be pushing the standard injectors towards their limit. Just something else to think about.

Hmm, I'm slightly dubious about the relentless manifolds though, all I hear about is them cracking though :/. The jbs ones are supposed to be good though right??

As far as I remember the JBS ones didn't flow as well as the relentless, required additional porting and were twice the price. Plus no mani is guaranteed against cracking. As you've seen the OEM ones do quite easily!

Rough guess on your EGT's?

I saw the manifold you bought off Phil, it was in as good condition as any used K04 manifold I have seen.

If you want to go stage 2 you can stick with a standard manifold, a B5 TIP and a downpipe and decat. Should see a reliable 270bhp. I would hugely recommend not chasing figures past 280bhp; you use your car daily and I know you will get ****ed off with the constant upkeep that a relentless manifold and the power it will give causes.

A nice steady 270hp with good torque and flow is where it is at, and the mod list for that isn't too expensive. Just make sure the car is as healthy as it can be, and upgrade to a B5 tip and a downpipe.

To a degree I'd agree with you but my car gets used daily to do a 30 mile round trip and has been going strong for a year now. Probably just cursed myself...

Yeah I think you're right jardo... I don't want to spend big money, and I'd also like to spend more on handling. Do I not need a cat back, or decat back exhaust or will the s3 one flow ok?

Thanks for the advice.

Phils made 300bhp on a stock cat back with a decat, but not really recommended.

You won't need a cat back, and staying stock will keep it quiet and more every day friendly. With a decat the exhaust doesn't sound bad at all.

The xs power downpipe and decat's are fairly good aren't they? Where's the best place to get one from?

The xs ones are very good and fit well, much better than the manifolds lolI got mine direct from their ebay shop, made a cheeky offer and got lucky. Sam bryant on facebook can sort tou as well :)

Not sure which sam bryant he is on facebook lol. Cant seem to find the xs power shop either... Not in this country anyway. Help haha

He's the black one posing like a porn star, pouting at the camera and pulling a popeye pose.

I kid you not; masssssive bender.

Lovely bloke though. Tell him Jardo sent you and he'll do you a deal, even though I didn't technically send you his way but I like him to think I'm giving him loads of business so he sells me things cheap.

Seen a picture of an XS power downpipe after 6 months on a car.... not getting one of those looks terrible!!

Looking at pipeworx dp and decat. I was also speaking to my local revo dealer, and he thinks that ill need a full system, or it will cook the turbo??

LOL.... cook the turbo!!!... thats funny... sorry dude... turning the boost ok will cook them, running std fuelling (no name maps) will cook them... not have an aftermarket exhaust won't...

3" DP will lower EGT's to an extent and fitting a FMIC also helps retain the power you have... all a typical stage 2 does if lift mid range... this is done by a little more boost and timing advance if the engine can deal with it which to be fair most can't..

Being brutally honest here... generic maps have had their day on these cars... the health of the engines vary so much you need custom mapping just to ensure you wont kill it off once and for all...

Bill had a 2003 TT in today for a map... oil was pouring out the throttle body...

If whoever you take it too just wants to flash a map on and take your money... walk away... smoke test for leaks, VCDS check for faults and visual check (by knowledgeable people) plus before and after runs on a dyno is the minimum requirement for cars at this age...

I am guessing you want to Volkskraft? Haha.

Bill or Niki, take your pick. They are your only two options :p

Ha, no problem. So the map doesn't turn the boost up? Maybe thats what hes on about... Id rather not spend £600 odd quid on a cat back exhaust if i dont have to... So you're saying i wouldn't need to?

Sorry... EGT's?? I get what you're saying, and i appreciate your input, in fact i was going to be a nuisance and pm you about your opinion, but as you've replied i don't need to!

Ive heard about R tech, but they're up in leicestershire.. Bit far from Devon, although perhaps it would be worth the journey. Where is B5??

Ah ok fair enough! Maybe it was just a dodgy one off. Did i read somewhere that you had to 'modify' yours to fit though?

Badger 5 is in Gloucestershire, J13 of the M5 so easy for you :)

Stage 2 typically does have the boost increased but.... its not a case of you can, more if you should... turning the boost up isn't always the best thing to do as your engine may not react to it... it may even make things worse... like I said, the condition of these engines at the age they are at means results vary wildly... some like more boost, some don't... some pull timing on std power so like it...

If your engine was factory fresh then generic maps work ok... once wear sets in then they tend to do more harm than good...

EGT's or exhaust gas temperatures are important enough the Audi felt the need to fit an EGT probe to the later K04 turbo'd cars... high EGT's will damage stuff (like your manifold for example) and cause other stuff to 'cook'... proper tuning will control EGT's and make the engine run in its efficiency zone... the only way to do that on engines with mileage is custom mapping..

Oh cool thats not far at all really :)! Awesome.

Yeah ive heard people say the same about revo and other generic maps, that theyre ok for fresh engines.
Think i will definately go down the custom mapping route then :).

Anyone know rough prices for mapping from r-tech and B5??

Oh and sorry to ask this again but should i be looking at getting a cat back exhaust or not bother? If it means only a few hp then i wont bother.

Thanks!!

Volkscraft have done a really good job on a couple of my cars and sorted out problems that other big name legendary tuners have missed and still tried to map my car with then I've gone crying back to Mat and hes sorted it in minutes. Don't knock things or people till you've tried them Jardo!
