I know someone has started a similar thread, i plan on fitting both very soon, i have an rnse, here is the details from my steering module, is it right for me to fit cruise and MFSW and maybe bluetooth at later date? Steering module

Sorry, that will not work with MFSW

It will work with CC but in the 'alternative' mode which does not use the 'set' button on the end of the stalk.

Your module is 'midline' and for MFSW you need 'highline' module and 'highline' DIS.

You don't say what year your car is but you may also need the control wire between steering module and engine ecu.

Right I've had a look on Ross tech to what part numbers are what modules, does the highline one I get need to be a certain software level, how do I know if I need a different slip ring, does it need a steering angle sensor built in, what about the Lin number? Do I need to run any additional wires? It's a 2004 3 door 2.0 tdi manual, with xenons, auto lights and wipers if that matters?

Not if I'm going to get a highline module, do you have an answer to my last post?

I have an answer to your last post so please pay attention !

The following ONLY applies if you have a 'shield-shaped' (two stage) airbag. If you do not have this 2 stage airbag you CANNOT retro-fit MFSW. You must also have a highline DIS (split into 3 sections ).

The ONLY steering module that will work is part number 8P0 953 549 F. It must be 8P0 not 1K0

The correct slip ring for that module is 1K0 959 653 D which includes steering angle sensor.

The software versions in those modules are correct.

If you fit this module then that will be suitable for CC but you will still have to install the control wire which sends the necessary information from the steering module to the engine module, assuming of course it is not already there but on that year of 3 door models they did not usually install it. There are various threads on this forum regarding this control wire and where it goes to and from so do a search.

Unless you have OEM Bluetooth fitted then all the MFSW will do is change the volume and change station/track depending on which source you are using. It will not change the source (i.e from radio to CD)

Both MFSW and CC need coding with VCDS in order for them to work at all.

Please do not come back and ask questions about whether or not other modules will work because they will not on that year and model of A3.

Just had a look at my a3 (2005) 2.0 TDI DSG I have flat bottom and planning on cruise, my steering module is 8P0 953 549 B and slip ring 1K0 959 653 C, I looked on Ross Tech for the steering module and its not listed. I cant get the buttons to work properly when I code it, but the mode button and speaking button skips a track when I press them for some reason.

Oh yeah I just saw the F at the end and thought that was the steering module, is it worth getting for the other bits and getting the steering module separate? Will German stuff work?

Yup German stuff will work, as long as you get the correct ECU, like Mike said. Starting in 8P0 and ending in either E or F. The K one above does support MFSW but only for 2009+ A3's.
