It seems I got prematurely annoyed about a wee ding I got on the door last fortnight... I came back from a ten min trip to the shop to find this...

The driver had driven off after an aborted attempt at parking which involved them trading paint with me. Thankfully though they hadn't gone far and had taken up a place in another part of the car-park. What with them 'thoughtfully' leaving behind some of their paint I was able to track them down quickly enough. Totally gutted. Car isn't even 3 months old and that's two big dings it's taken as a result of careless *******s in car parks.
 
Sheeesh, that is not good luck at all! Maybe the paint is magnetic, and it's attracting all these cars to it! Best get the bubble wrap out next time you park it.

Hope it gets sorted and doesn't end up costing you an arm and a leg.
 
***, please tell me what you said to them, did you call the cops for non reporting of an accident etc?
 
Totally agree with what NHN says.

You really have had bad luck Deci. I remember the whack to your door you received in a pretty empty car park.

Definitely get that cretin's details for that damage. Disgraceful!
 
I'd have waited by his car to have words! Get police & insurance involved, hope you took photos of their car and your paint on it as well

100%, only way to put pressure for admission, would be to have cops present & they, as with most people wouldn't deny it with such proof obvious, assures a successful claim.

Yeah I got their details and they admitted it. Also took loads of photos, made a police report and the security guys have CCTV that shows the car attempting to park beside me. Photos are GPS tagged too. No way should I be paying for it.
 
There's too much of this now. If I hit someone driving/parking ..... I would wait to say sorry, and trade insurance details or offer to pay for the damage if it wasn't too much.

some people have no respect for other people's property.

Has anyone noticed that, if like me, you park in a car park after locating a space well away from any other car ,by the time you get back some a##ehole has squeezed in next to you with fecking hundreds of other spaces available ?? 😾😾

Thing is, that's not exactly a small one either, they would of known immediately of the incident, that's what would **** me off so much about it & have me ranting towards them for the disrespect of just driving of & still parking in the same car park & not saying a damn thing, for me, ********* & I'd definitely call the cops & if they came back before cops arrived, block them in until they did come or let there tyres down to prevent moving the car.

Fecking AAAAAAAAA got to love technology :)

Why the cops didn't charge them with at least a fine/ticket is beyond me, they deserve that at least.

Of all the spaces in the car park, most of which are much closer to the shop/entrance/walkway, why do they feel the need to park next to another car in the far part of the car park? I just don't get it.....

Yeah, especially in Belfast - they've got bigger problems.

I got a report number. Seeing a body shop tomorrow that the dealer recommended. I hope she's still as co-operative when I get the quote.
 
i hope you removed his head and dropped it at the benefits office to advise the Country is saving £30k a year from the jobless cretin or am i stereotyping here:wtf:?

I had the same happen to me on my last car, its shocking that people find it acceptable to drive off.

The comment about finding some fool parked next to you when you park well away from other cars I think is deliberate on the grounds that they know you have done so as you are conscious about damage meaning you are unlikely to damage the aforementioned fools car yourself.

Some would argue its "fools logic"
 
Feel for you.

On the upside, it looks worse than it is and thankfully it appears to have only damaged the plastic and not any of the bodywork.

I once came out to a car park where my g/friends car was parked and it had footprints up the bonnet and roof...all creased!!!!...Though it was a Daihatsu...think it was made of tin!...Actually popped out under the sun's heat about a day later!
 
Reminds me of the time I opened the door at 4am to a policeman who told me someone had run over my car. Very confusing at that time of night.
 
Quote of £650 to fix. There's a bit of damage to the quarter panel too which has brought the price up. The wheel got a wee scuff but I've been advised to leave it because of how the repair affects the finish - It's barely noticeable so I'm not bothered.

Out of curiosity I asked about the other ding I got on the side (pictured below). £400 to fix it:( Apparently the crease along the side makes it awkward to fix. Unfortunately I didn't catch the git who did that:(

People just don't care anymore...not sure they ever did having said that.

I swapped cars with a friend for one night....purely to test his 4 doors (new born forces sale etc) ..he took my Scirocco (soon to be SB)..I took his BM...I knew he had a (previously)scuffed bumper...I T-Cutted for him....though didn't take all of it out...when we swapped cars back..I showed him my work he showed me my newly kerbed previously pristine alloy!....one night..one trip...and it was the drivers side!!!!!...wasn't happy...was a proper kerbing too..he must have been balancing on it!
I once bought a brand new Mini Cooper S (not sure why)...had it a few weeks...backed onto my drive straight into the girlfriends Ka!..even when I heard and felt the crunch I thought what was that?! she had a small crack(!) in her number plate and both her number plate screws punctured my bumper...£400..that's called tw@t tax....week later a pigeon smashed through my windscreen...it was two of those Jim Carrey moments....Ace Ventura driving home with my head out of the drivers window and a hand raised at the sky with a "Thankyooooou".....and it was raining....I seem to recall putting my wipers on WTF!

Nothing like yours but I've shared them now...it might raise a smirk

The is some real bad luck, my friend has took delivery of his sport 6 days ago and a police van reversed into it last night!
He is gutted! Fair pay to the boys in blue, they sent out his Sargent and he was breathalysed and will be suspended from driving for 6 months. Cheeky ****** was still going to drive off if my mate had not ran out when he heard the bang!!
 
Reading Ackieboo's story is worrying considering the protagonist's profession and committing the offence whilst on their day job. Beggars belief! If the law would consider driving away as if nothing happened, why would anyone else be any different.

The people who do care seem to be in the minority.

I had an incident back in September when I was reversing into a parking bay in a retail park. A girl in a mini was already parked in the bay next to the bay I was reversing into. Rather than wait for me to finish my manouver her friend thought it vitally important that she had to get out of the mini and fling open the passenger door. In that split second of flinging the car door open I could not avoid the contact whilst reversing. Insurance company said it was my fault because the other car was stationery and I should have checked to make sure everything was clear. It was clear. I cannot account for stupidity such as that.

In the main, people do not care for others property. Lazy, thoughtless and lacking respect spring to mind.

Train station car parks - the amount of times I have seen women get out of cars and with the handbag in one hand trail down the side of another car. Guys are just as bad when holding a brief case and umbrella at the same time. Dont get me started on short women with golf umbrellas!! :sign_ot:
 
deci - the £400 for sorting the side was this quote on the basis of doing the two jobs at the one time? If not you should ask them what the delta is, as there will be certain activities, for example such as mixing paint which they will only have to do once.

The £650 job should be £720 but they discounted it due to the car having been bought from them recently. The £400 was the extra that it would cost to do the ding on the side. In retrospect I should've asked for a discount on the £400 and let the culprit pay the full whack for the bumper damage.

I spoke to my brother about it (a former car dealer) and he said it was a fair price. He'd previously said - from looking at the photo alone - that the damage on the side would be at least £300 because of the labour involved. The quarter panel has to be removed. The crease on the side makes it more awkward (and expensive) to repair.
 
Car is in getting repaired at the mo!

The good news for me is that they're doing both sets of damage for the one price!

Bad news for me is I'm left with a Mini for 3 more days. Its brand new and well specced but I hate it:( Roll on Thurs!
 
Glad to see your cars fixed!

Just had a read through this thread last year my girlfriends KA got writ off by someone in a car park... I had a tearful phone call on my way home from work saying someone had hit her car whilst she had nipped into a shop. It was her first car and in the first few months being on the road so I assumed it was just a little scrape and headed straight there. I was stunned how someone could cause so much damage and leave a car in that state. It started on the front wing totally crushed seemed to go upwards the across the door and the rear quarter. The door wouldn't open I don't have photos to hand but everyone who saw it seemed stunned. I wouldn't of believed it was possible assumed it must of been a 4x4 or something to get the damage so high up the car. No one in sight and it must of happened in about a 10 minute window no CCTV so we were pretty stuck. Luckily being a first car we had gone for something cheap so ended up scrapping it and upgrading. Scares you every time you park up though!
 
Some people have no morals & honesty isn't in there vocabulary, disgusting to leave a car in such a state.
