Hi All as my bday is fast approaching i've asked my special wife that I would like a new set of headlights for my 98 A4 1.8T. I've been looking at the dayline. https://www.dectane.de/HEADLIGHTS/H....html?XTCsid=53800ccb1d958631b9d268daba58235d

Also a suitable HID kit would be on my list as well. Not to sure wether to get the black or chrome headlights, I think with the car being silver then the chrome would look the best.View attachment 15895

Anyway has anyone been down a similar route who could point me in a better direction for lights or HID kits.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Stick with genuine audi headlamps.

For the money your going to spend on those cheap copy things, you'll pick up a set of genuine S4 HID's that actually work properly.

As per above with the headlamps themselves the projectors in all aftermarket units seem a bit.. well... ****!

I've run a cheap HID kit for the last 2+ years without problem, perform brilliantly. Stick between 4300k and 6000k higher than this is too blue. In theory the bluer the better as this is where the rods in your eyes are most effective (Scotopic vision), in reality however I find anything over 6000k becomes a hinderance to your visibility

I have a set of genuine HID bulbs and ignitors and indicator lenses... I bought the units but the nice gent I purchased them from neglected to tell me the actual headlamps were broken... Wa$^*r!!

The Lights work fine just the headlamp units have broken adjustors... If you could make use of them, PM me and we can see what we can sort out. . .

On the subject on HIDS sulli79 kindly collected a set of PFL S4 headlights with ballasts and no bulbs now my plan is to utilise them in to my existing headlights by buying some H7 - D2S adapters or can i swap the projectors over ?? Also which D2S bulbs would you recommend (brand wise) as im going with 5k ??

I'd swap the projectors if you can, dont know if they're compatible, just take it apart and have a look.

Actually, i've got a dismantled facelift headlamp, and a dismantled PFL S4 headlamp at home, i will try to compare the parts for you on sunday.

if you can that would be great

****** typical. I say it's fine and now one of the ballasts has died. A whole £10 for a direct replacement isn't the end of the world

yeah thats what i thought till it kept happening frequently bulbs going ballasts going buying new kits so if the S4/RS4's can last 10 years (theoretically) on ballasts/bulbs then im all for OEM units !!
