Fitted my inline pump too my s3 relocated fuel filter and used b5 attachments for plug and play fuel hoses!!all runs well except its noisey??
Fitted my mates today so I thought I'd see if it was any diffrent he decided too by some attachments that would need jubilee clips and I fitted with exactly the same cable ect relay but his is mounted in bay when it started up it was 5x quieter than mine so I had a good look at the pump he had and it has another attachment on both sides he said they came with pump but I do not have these attachments only one I have is one way valve which we have both removed???here the pic of the attachments the copper one on outlet I don't have and there's a silver one on inlet side plz don't get confused with the hose attachments!

Have seen this before a few times... seems to vary from pump to pump... had a car in that was to have an original Bosch 044 fitted... made a hell of a noise... so fitted a DA-31 instead, quiet as a mouse... same fittings, same car, just swapped the pump...

Mine is quiet... you can just about hear it on idle inside the car but once rolling them nothing...

You do not use the one way valve as the intank has this already...

ok so it's not the fact he has the attachments before the other ones?
and on a more serious note I have had too tow my s3 too the mother in laws house it will not start the girlfriend rang me up today and said car was spluttering I went too her in my van started car and it was misfiring bad so cut it out started with maf unplugged same so cut it out unplugged coil packs ect pulled plugs all outside the local shop not a happy chappy so all plugs looked good not wet ect!! Put everything back together and tried too start again no joy just cranks over and over....

got my mate who owes me a favour for firing his pump too come down with a little code reader as I didn't have my laptop with me and only code I got from ECM was 1810 I (think) power supply terminal 30 voltage too low disconnected inline fuel pump fuse can hear factory pump prime but will not start any help tuffty ??

So he has a da31 and I have a da31 pump but his you cannot hear but mine sound louuuuudddd?
do you have the attachment off bill directly too pump or is yours like the one in pic with brass piece on outlet and silver one on inlet then bills attachments over that?sent an email today asking why I don't have these connections with my pump and my mate did???his is perfect!!!

Ive hads a noisy Bosch one that screamed, changed to a da and its as quiet a mouse....????
Bill sells the correct plug and play fittings

Dont forget to try and insulate it from the chassis with a bit of old IC piping etc,,, or you will get a droning noise for sure

as I say fitted 2 same day one an a3 with t3 turbo kit (fast)!and my s3?? Both same pump wiring ect phoned him he says his car brilliant a lot better at redline my car died after an hour and as I say it was very very loud compared too his..now my car just won't fire up started a new thread have a peak if you can I did pull plugs not wet ect white spots /black/brown on all spark plugs and there still in tact!! Small end outlet just for peace of mind???

I'm confused, have you used VCDS or a generic code reader?

Ok maybe it will show something else.
have you tried to removed the pump and just have the OEM pump supplying fuel?

I have electrically disconnected da31 and tried but haven actually removed it from car yet..
i did hear pump prime oem I'm sure?

I doubt the OEM fuel pump would push fuel through the DA pump. I would remove it from the fuel system and try OEM only. That could narrow your problem to faulty DA pump or faulty wiring.

panic over put some fuel in and she fired straight up after a few cranks with da 31 in but disconnected so it will push enoughthrough not happy with her at all no fuel wot the ........

some pumps are louder than others..
i don't understand why he has extra connections and I didn't ..have contacted shop I purchased from I want another this sounds awfull!!!!!!just looked at your pump bill da31 with the attachments fitted on the outlet side there is somthing before your plug and play adapter??? What is that??i do not have this?

nothing before it.
pumps vary, my fittings dont

you are comparing TWO DIFFERENT PUMPS not just the fittings
exactly same pumps......?? in the link tuffty put in another thread it shows a picture with pump and fittings if you look at outlet side of pump there is a big spacer before your attachment clearly can be seen now I don't have that and my mate does I have screwed your outlet plug and play adapter directly flush with pump!!!

They ARE different pumps... Same make yes but DIFFERENT pumps - Thats the point. His Pump - Your pump - Different Pumps!

they come with the non return outlet fitting but that does not connect to the cars lines, which is what my connectors do

pic of mine fitted...

...and what the pump looks like with just the fittings...

All sorted as you can see there is somthing in between rubber grommets I've fitted one now sounds a lot better still grumbles occasionally probably little bit of crap was sucked in when she ran out of fuel but very diffrent sound once fitted bottom half of non return valve then bills adapter!!

rubber grommets?

what picture are you referring to?

I'm confused with what you are trying to say
look at the picture tuffty has shown with pump installed where rubber grommets ie power supply goes too pump there is a big spacer before your attachment I'm going too post up a pic later too explain will be Easyer but I can assure you your fitting has not directly gone into pump on discharge side!! On inlet side it screws straight in but not outlet!!!

No spacer, the earlier DA-31's had a longer nose is all... newer ones I have seen have a shorter nose...

<tuffty/>

I think the thing you are on about is the brassy fitting in between the pump and the non return valve shown here..

Connect the fittings direct to the pump...

My pump doesn't have a spacer

<tuffty/>
well if you look at mine it looks like yours has a spacer?
obviously as bill said all pumps are diffrent...this is all I've been askin from start!all sorted now thanks anyway and hope I don't offend bill !

That's not a spacer mate, that's the pump body.

As Tuffty said a bit further up, there is an early one with the longer "body" and a later one with the shorter body.

I don't understand what all this confusion is about!!
Its pretty simple, remove all inlet /outlet fittings that come with the pump, fit B5 fittings, fit fuel lines, connect power supply, start the car, check for fuel leaks and you are done.

at least you can see then ......obviously I have new or older style pump clearly shows a longer neck!! Simple question simple answer was there is 2 style da-31 obviously 2 styles for a reason?????
And I can assure you with the adapter it ais quieter anyway!
