My car came with the chunky flat bottom, the controls light up which sort of makes me wonder if it has been coded but the controls dont work, the stereo wiring was all hacked and ive nearly fixed it all would that have anything to do with it? I do have genuine VCDS but not sure on coding, or would it be that they always light up but wont work if i dont have the highline steering module?

Another thing that im wondering if anyone has done insted of starting another thread. Everytime i see the RNSE stolen thread makes me worry, has anyone come across any sort of cover etc to hide it when parked up? My front windows are slightly tinted.

The stereo wiring being hacked sounds dodgy :uhm: I would feel the need to query why its like that from the previous owner,if it were me.

You could buy a steering wheel lock £50 and angle it upon parking so they couldn't get it if they wanted to or security glass £300 which is very hard to break from the outside or an alarm upgrade £500.A cover I guess you could make if you were in the vacuum plastic moulding business and knocked up a stereo lookalike on it,I'm sure I saw a post of someone cannibalising one and smoothing the back so it covered it.

When I went from a non MFSW to a MFSW, even though it wasn't coded, the lights still lit up even though they didn't work. Firstly I'd see if you've got the highline steering wheel, if you have then I'd look at the coding.

I've had my RNSE fitted for around a year or so and so far, touch wood, I've had no problems what so ever. I'd be interested in finding out if there is a cover or a way of hiding it though as I don't fancy it being on show when parked up at a few festivals later this year!

I still need to have a look at the module, is there a guide anywhere on how to code the wheel? Im currently enquiring into security film but I think someone should get a plastic mould made by a company see how it fits then start a group buy.

Right now discovered on my flat bottom the left hand side skips track one way and the wheel turns the volume up only if you press the wheel and opposite for the other side

If you already have a DSG(Flappy paddles) MFSW, then yes your Module will accept cruise no problem. Iirc 8P0953549B was the other module that accepted MFSW and cruise, but was very rare to get hold of one, hence that the only other module "F" is quite commonly used.
If you fancy a trip to North London/Enfield, I can offer the cruise install for you mate.

PM me if interested.

the one that i found that was rare ended in E... not seen a B module as yet.

It's not that, now my DIS doesn't work, this is doing my head in!

you need to read the labels when coding... there are specific labels to the numbers you are entering and the numbers only represent what options you have in the car.

get a screenshot of the VCDS coding screen for the steering control module to get better advice on what the coding should be

Cant get my pictures to work for some reason? vcds2 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

So that is coded for an automatic car with dsg paddles, without Bluetooth, without cruise control, with a mfsw and a rear wiper... Does that sound like ur car?

If the rollers on either side of your wheel dont work properly i would say you may need to upgrade your steering control module and slip ring. the coding looks correct and the fact the buttons light up just shows that the buttons are connected with the correct loom.

i have seen the same kind of issue when installing a cruise control system with the wrong module, although it does turn on cruise it doesnt actually work the way it is designed to work.

Ok thanks for your help looks like new module and ring, know anyone selling one? One last thing what module and ring do I need to just accept cruise, that's for my brothers car and he has single stage airbag so he can't have mfsw?
