I bought this 1.9Tdi 110 last Nov to get through the winter while my Chev was hiding from the salt, Short MOT, bit of tax, couldn't hear the rattles from the 158,000 mile motor over the knocking from the suspension. Thing is I really enjoyed driving it and thought Ok i'll chuck a few quid at it and mabye it'll get another MOT, Well you know how it goes, Prosport Coilies, Borbet Reps, Stretched falkens all round, Whiteline ARB, Remap, Decat, all new bushes and joints everywhere, Pressed plates, rear wiper gone, bagdes gone, black grill, getting a camo wrap soon, and it got another MOT, Don't really want the Chev anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice cars mate , funny how things change I haven't done any modding for years but I'm hooked again!

how much is the wrap costing you if you dont mind me asking
Hi Tim, Still looking into that at the moment, trying to find somewhere localish, I reckon about £800 - £1000 from what I have seen on the interweb

Have you considered Plasti Dip?, that's about £400 cheaper alternative

yeah i got a few qoutes that came to low end of 1k 1.2 etc i ended up getting the wrap my self and DIY look at my thread, if you got time, patientce (which i dont) then it comes out ok, i didn't manage to do the bumpers or the wing mirrors but these you can either then pay to get wrapped (got quoted £150 for the lot) or paint them which is what im literally about to do once finished typing

gonna have a look at your build thread, have considered having a go but im not blessed in the patience department either!

Yeah most good, some not so good!! think i'll pay or I may have a go with cans as each bit wont be too big, one way or another it will be camo soon!

plastidip it like a rubber spray, I've not tried it but its supposed to last a while and be easy to peel of if you decide to, think its about £15 a can but is cheaper if you buy more, you can even buy full car kits, tin of dip an sprayer etc but I can't imagine that's cheap although it would be compared to a wrap

yeah plasti dip is like a spray paint but it peels off the only problem i have with it is getting it neat as it rubs off when cleaning it up etc and im not convinced i will be able to wash it well with out it coming off, i would 100% do a wrap myself again especially now i had some practice and my heat gun is now working again which is a must

That looks ace mate don't wrap it it looks mint
Its one of those cars, looks good in the pics when its had a polish, but its got a few knocks and scrapes, I know what you mean though, trouble is I don't know when to stop !

Looks very cool mate, tdi a3's make awesome daily drivers.

Always nice to see one saved from the scrap yard too!

Thanks,,,So much more fun since the remap, could do with another gear, the 16" rims have dropped the gearing quite a bit, however, no need to change down to get her going !!

Go to a reputable place if you get it wrapped. I've heard some places cut through the original paintwork when trimming around the windows and doors. You wouldn't know until you've peeled the wrap off

yeah I can see how that could happen, still looking for someone in my area at mo, thanks

Plasti dip is as someone mentioned above a rubber like spray that can be peeled off easily but if not peeled off will happily last upto 3 years just avoid how powered jet washes and car washes.

DIY is cheep and easy enough but if you don't have the time common prices range from about 300/500 for entire car and 50/150 for wheels just depends who does it, it's fairly new so not everywhere does it yet, but what I like about it is its unique, I'm thinking of getting it on my car best thing about it is if you dont like it you just peel it off :)

You know I think im going to have a go at painting the camo myself, black and greys, there will be pics, (you might not be able to see it though!!)
