Hi guys, new on here so be gentle please.

Just had a revo stage 1 remap that has highlighted a worn clutch. Annoying as It feels like there will be a significant difference. Really want to put an uprated clutch in if I'm going to replace it anyway. If any of you guys have done this already do you have any suggestions.

Sorry if this is an old question. I did have a look but couldn't find anything useful.

Cheers

that's a really good question mate.as I have the same car would be really good to know what upgrade can be done when the clutch is gone.the one I know of is the ECS stage one clutch kit which is tailored for the 2.0T FSi Quattro
here's a link for it.
Audi B7 A4 Quattro 2.0T > Drivetrain > Clutch > ES#2570169 Stage 1 Clutch Kit - SA5913

the problem with this is the fact its shipped from U.S so in the end the shipping cost will be same as the price of the kit itself.
other than this I haven't seen anything taylor made for our cars.
a single mass flywheel & uprated clutch is what to look for if your car is mapped.
good luck with the search, let me/us know if you'll find anything interesting.

I've just had an APR stage 3 endurance clutch fitted with a Leight weight single mass fly wheel, kit cost £960 inc vat delivered. Will handle 475 ft/lbs of torque. I was quoted £1200 for standard clutch and dual mass fitted. So it was a no brainer for me :)

Cheers Tom.

I've got Midland VW in Cannock looking into it. They did the remap and fitted an RS4 ARB, I'm hoping there will be a more local solution, don't fancy the carriage from the U.S.

Mad that you reply from Telford, I'm only a few miles away.

its a small world mate :D
btw how good/honest are them lads at midlands VW?
might as well stop there for parts/price quotes.....

Cheers Craig.

I may be optimistic but I was hoping for something a little cheaper. I don't think I'll ever upgrade to stage 3 so that may be a little over the top. An option though.

Ill be honest mate, I've been looking for 2 years and your looking at £800 minimum. No one on here ever managed to give me a descent answer to the same question. If you just want to change the clutch, you could probably get a standard one or £400, but you risk putting it back together and the dual mass going for a s**t. You only really wana do it once, it's worth doing right. It killed me paying £1000, but its a lifer now

They seem pretty good mate. cheaper than Audi and they're a revo remap centre. They certainly had plenty of nice looking Audis in so it looks like a lot of people use them. I'll let you know, first time I've used them today but they didn't muck about, did rear disks and pads, RS4 ARB, wheel alignment and the remap between 9.15 and 1.00.

that's great Dave. remap is on my shopping list, along with S4 brakes,RS4 arb, lowering springs and a forge diverter valve.if I could get it all locally that would be awesome.

I had the rev D diverter valve fitted by Audi in Shrewsbury. It is a piston type rather than a diaphragm, apparently it is more than enough for a remap, and it's only 50 quid, there's quite a few posts on here about it, midland vw told me that the forge gives a slightly different pedal feel (a bit spongy apparently)

Just had my drake performance st3 clutch delivered from the states yesterday, going to order a clutchmasters single mass steel flywheel next week, they are certainly not cheap or easy to get uprated stuff in the uk ,i am also going to fit a metal clutch cylinder at the same time as the stock ones are plastic!

This sounds interesting. I've looked up the clutch, but which model flywheel have you chosen?

Clutch Masters- Your High Performance Specialists

Also what is the total cost of these 3 items after all import duty / VAT are added (approx)?

I'm not sure on a total until i have it all here inc import tax shipping etc,i'm not sure i want to add it all up anyway it might be to much of a shock to the system lol .Clutchmaster only do one "steel " flywheel for our cars.

Right.

Bit of a long one but I think it is worth sharing. Below is the online chat I had with a guy called Rich in the USA at USP Motorsports. He was so helpful I felt compelled to post it. Oh.... the price is pretty awesome too.

→Hi, would you be able to send a dxd clutch kit to the Uk?
USP Sales- Rich: we sure can
→Any idea on the carriage, I'm afraid I've sent an e-mail asking the same questions...... sorry.
USP Sales- Rich: no problem, what is your mailing address?
→Sorry not sharing that Audi sport members :) , UK.

USP Sales- Rich: what car is this for?
→A4 B7 2.0 T Quattro Sline
USP Sales- Rich: ok, one second
→just gotta pop out. I'll be back in 15, I'll leave this open and look forward to your response.
USP Sales- Rich: no problem
USP Sales- Rich: We are looking at approximately $150 US dollars to ship the stage 1 to your area
→Thanks, how much would it be for the stage 3 daily, If I'm going to change it I may as well do the flywheel too.
USP Sales- Rich: no problem
USP Sales- Rich: $193 dollars for the stage 3 DAily
→And can I ask what cryo treatment is please
USP Sales- Rich: Cryo Treatment increases the density of the materials
USP Sales- Rich: better durability essentially
→Is this advised?
USP Sales- Rich: Does the car have other uses other than daily driving?
→No, but I do drive it pretty hard, it has been remapped and the roads here are small and twisty, not quite rallying but not far off..
USP Sales- Rich: you should be ok without the Cyro
→Ok, Cheers, any idea how long the carriage would take? She's already slipping..
USP Sales- Rich: that was for 5-10 days
→Ok, could it get here any quicker, I appreciate it would be more expensive, sorry to bug you but I need to get it sorted pretty soon. Could you get me a price for circa 3 days please.
USP Sales- Rich: sure, one second
USP Sales- Rich: for 3-5 days ETA, we are looking at $205 US Dollars
→Rich, that is awesome, I'm very impressed with your service so far, how would I go about ordering it now, just through the usual checkout or would I need to do something different?
USP Sales- Rich: Anytime! You can order through the site as usual. My partner ID is 8733 if you choose to put me as the representative. So all in all, you should be a total of roughly $1305.00 when you check out.
USP Sales- Rich: all US dollars
→Once again, thanks very much Rich, I'll move some money around and get an order in asap, is there any way I can save this chat, I think a lot of members of Audisport.net would be very interested to see it. Not a lot of options for this car in the UK.
USP Sales- Rich: im not sure how to save chats... sorry i was never asked that before :)
USP Sales- Rich: you can always refer me to Audisport members and i would gladly help
USP Sales- Rich: My e-mail is Rich@uspmotorsports.com

So at current exchange rates it will cost just over £850 for a stage 3 daily dxd clutch kit including flywheel. The exact same kit is currently being sold by APR for £1330.

As a side note I spoke to APR before and after discovering this, Dan (first call) was polite and said he would look into it, when I rang back with the price inc shipping I found Amanda to be quite rude as soon as she found out I could get it so much cheaper. I will update if I get a better response from Dan.

I am very tempted to order from USP even if apr match the price as I found some elements of their customer service somewhat lacking.

Nice find Dave, I'll defo have a look at their site. stage 3 is tempting ,still..... if I can save a few quid on a stage 1 as long as it delivers a reasonable performance I'll rather go for it.
anyways thanks for the hint mate ;)

I think by the time you factor in an OEM flywheel you'll find the price for the stage 1 + flywheel is not far off the stage 3. The stage 3 kit however includes the upgraded flywheel. Also as we have the quattro I 'd like to have a bit of breathing space.

Yeah after a look at the specs of them clutch kits.. You're probably right it's worth getting stage 3 with the flywheel.
In the mean time I'm OK with the OEM clutch for now ,but sooner or later I'll get the car mapped so might as well go for this one.
it's good site in overall-now just need some extra money to spend!!!

Import tax on mine was £130 for the clutch alone,it all adds up .Mine is supposed to be a st3 but without a heavy pedal feel.Plus going for a steel flywheel to maintain some weight ,i dont want to cause any vibration or noise problems.

Cheers guys I appreciate the feedback. I'm gonna go for it. They'll have to put nearly 50% tax on it to make it even the same price as uk so fingers crossed I'll save some money. I'll let you all know how much it all ends up costing, I've gone for a metal slave cylinder and clutch line upgrade too while I was there.....and a Silicone inlet hose, damn credit cards!!!!!

When my car was stage 2+ it was running the std clutch and fly wheel. I never experienced any clutch slip however I know the torque of the revo map comes in aggressively so the stage 1 clutch setup is probably a good idea for longevity purposes.
