Also is this the lock/latch in the actual tailgate or the one inside the aluminium trim panel above the rear bumper?


Would i not get any lights on boot/dash if tailgate was not closed,or what do i need to do here to fix this problem ?

Even though you have done DTC clear in VCDS the fault has old date ...

Try going into module 46 on its own, then clear fault directly in module ... cycle ignition on/off and open/close tailgate and scan again ...

On the A6 the Hazard switch stays illuminated after locking to indicate car has not entered sleep mode, once in sleep mode (after a few minutes) the illumination will switch off ... does the Q7 do this?

Try connecting a multimeter directly to battery and placing multimeter at a position you can view it through a window once car is locked ... Link:- How To Perform a Parasitic Draw Test

It looks like you can check no-load voltage on the slave charge points in the engine bay but you can't use them for the amps parastic draw test there...

PM an external email for some stuff that may help you ...

Il try to clear the fault but it come back instantly,il give it another try tomorrow,my tailgate flickers every time it starts to open,it flickers about 4-5 times before opening quietly.I have taken the latch off cleaned it and used penetrating spray on it,but it seemed to be working ok.........maybe they still work when they get faulty...who knows........IL check the hazard switch but when i do lock the car nothings lit up in there when ive peered through the window,thanks for the help,ive seny you a pm with my number if your in the uk,and my e-mail.

Auxiliary heater can be set with a timer, is this coming on early in the morning without you knowing? It warms up the cabin heater. Without the engine running.

On my car the alarm doesn't set if the door latches are not closed. Also there is possibly measuring blocks in vcds to check the switches state

If you can ,verify the continuity of the wiring harness between the 46 ECU and the engine V53

give me your engine code and year of the car, I'll give you the pin numbers of the plug controller 46 and V53

got it done at my mates place (vagtronics) when car was asleep the reading on the multimeter was 0.20/0.21 M-amps fluctuating finaly pulled out the fuse that had the roofmounted tv connected to it and when car was locked the reading dropped to 0.05/0.06 M- amps fluctuating so hopefully that reading is ok?
