Hi,

so I'm new to the Audi world having been a fan of VW with a previous Scirocco and Golf R. Anyway it's now onwards to the new beast which was bought as more of a safe to drive family car for the wife however I have a few niggles.

Car spec:

2.0 TDI S line
interior lighting package (niggle)
B&O sound system
comfort pack
lowered s line suspension

So the niggles/questions- having seen pictures of the interior lighting package prior to the arrival of my car I was excited to see the large control button in the centre console lights up with a white ring however mine does not ! Has anyone any idea as to why?

also having come from VW I am used to the passenger mirror moving into a reversing position when you put the car into reverse however I can't seem to see how to get this to happen on the A3?

finally the sound system when having my iPhone plugged in- skipping tracks is a real pain as it would seem you need to use the volume button to skip to the next track- sad to see this cant be done from the steering wheel buttons.

These may seem trivial however after forking out so much money I do expect some of the features available from previous cars.

The wheel lights up on Tech Pack equipped cars I believe with Interior Lighting Pack. It's probably so you can use the handwriting feature at night.

Dipping passenger mirror comes with the folding mirrors option - however, it can be enabled with VCDS (the plug in computer to change car options and diagnosis of faults).

Not sure on the iPhone issue as I use SD cards.

I think you always find some feature missing from car to car whatever you pay.

Hittchy,

thanks for that. I suppose no matter how much research and hours spent reading this forum (at the wives disbelief) you never find these things out until the car finally arrives. :)

So true. I think there are so many features on cars nowadays, you're bound to miss something.

There's probably someone with VCDS in your area who could do the mirror dip for you for the cost of a pint. There's a thread in this forum on the features which can be enabled at the same time (like needle sweep) and a dedicated VCDS forum on the main board.

Wives just don't understand... they just haven't discovered the shoes and handbags forum yet. Once this happens, their eyes will be opened.

It only comes with the more expensive wing mirror option (£250) but yes you should be able to enable it on any A3 using VCDS.

The LED on the MMI wheel is only on the Tech Pack as that comes with the MMI touch feature. It lights up whenever you're in an area of the MMI which will accept handwriting input and at night when the interior lights are on.

As for the skipping of tracks via the steering wheel, if you use the left and right buttons on the left side of the wheel, you can change the DIS to show the current media being played. You can then use the scroll wheel to navigate through the track list or whatever else you want to do.

I may be wrong on this, but I'm sure you can configure the special '*' button on the steering wheel to skip to next track, sure I noticed that option when setting up mine (mine set to switch between media and radio).

Exactly what I've done.

I used the configurable button to toggle voice directions on the nav.

Thanks for all the responses guys(and girl). I did notice I could change the songs with the scroll feature but find my eyes drawn to the screen to make sure I'm doing the right thing where as I hoped to just click to switch to the next track without looking(if that makes any sense).

All I need to do now is try find someone in my area with a VCDS and the know how on how to change things :(

You don't need VCDS to configure the steering wheel '*' button, that can easily be set using the MMI system, can't remember exactly where/which menu off the top of my head.

mjc,

thanks, just popped out for milk and had a little play and bobs your uncle fannies your aunt it's done! * button is a joy now! !

:)

So finally,

does anyone know of someone with vcds that can help me do the passenger mirror and help with MMI VIM around the Ayr area of Scotland?

ive tried the interactive map but no luck with getting replies from direct PM's,

all help appreciated :)
