Ads' Old A3?

Spot on mate, that's my old car.

The dealer has dropped the price by £1k in a month.

Someone's going to get a good deal there. Before I part ex'd it it had a full service, mot, all new brakes, new rev d diverter valve and new pcv.

The Eibachs have only done a few thousand miles, it's still got the 09 rear lights on, and the fat fives and tyres are still good.

I miss it a bit.

I'm trying to talk myself out of selling up and taking a trip down for it. Been looking at DSG TFSI's and I'm fed up of cleaning my Black A3 every week so Silver would be ideal.

I was gonna say it's still got all the bits on that you added, which aren't cheap. Could you just not be bothered with the hassle of putting it all back to standard?

Still got the map on it as well?

Nice car that, good luck with the Rocco ads.

Thanks geezer. I'm bonding well with the roc so far.

Yep, its still got everything on it apart from the remap. It's got a brand new bosch battery in it too. Forgot about that.

Didn't really have the time to put the rest back to standard, and also leaving it as it was got me a better part ex price on it.

If you're really interested in buying it then drop me a PM and I'll fill you in on all the little details you might want/need to know.
Its missing a rear head rest, but I've got it at home still so if you buy it I'll send it to you!

Tbh, I think it'll sell before I'd be able to get mine back to standard, get rid of it and get the extra dosh together. Going to keep my eye on it though.

Didn't even notice the lack of headrest in the pics

Stunning car mate, one to be proud of too.

sorry to bump the thread just wondering ads has the A3 got a boot spoiler or is that just the standard boot lid?

it definitely suits it mate. Did you just bond it on?

It's subtle that's what I like about it :)

I should suit it, it's just the standard one that comes on all 8P s-lines and S3s.

I had the lugs cut off the spoiler and then it was bonded on, as didn't want holes drilled in the tailgate to have it fitted.

I would be the same mate wouldn't want any holes in the bodywork,

sorry but I might have to borrow your idea :)

are the expensive to buy? Seen second hand one on eBay at £170 is that a fair price?

Ey, get your own thread!!

Haha, only joking. I've also fitted an S-Line/S3 spoiler to my Sport by just sticking it on. They don't come up second hand that often. I ended up getting a whole tailgate with the spoiler attached, removed the spoiler, got it sprayed and then fitted. Think mine cost me about £80-90 to buy.

I was lucky with my one. I paid about £40 I think. It was on ebay but for some reason no one else really bid on it.

But as said, they don't come up too often and best way to find them is either as part of a tailgate or to seach for A3's that are breaking and contacting the seller to see if they still have the spoiler.

Sorry Leeds2592 I know I've bumped your thread lol

i will look into it, see how much the dealer will charge for it, probably a small fortune :(

No worries dude :friends:. I think they're around £180 from the stealers and then you have paint and fit it so it'll end up costing over £200! Best thing to do is as Ads says...

Ads, on a slightly different topic. How'd you find driving a remapped FWD A3?

I originally wanted either a 2.0TFSI DSG Quattro or a DSG S3, but I've not come across the first in months of searching and I can't afford an S3. Going to have to sacrifice the quattro as driving a manual in traffic every day is doing my swede in!

After remapping my car it made the drive much better. If I didn't push the car then it felt almost the same as stock, but as soon as you start driving with a heavier foot then you can feel the car isn't standard.
I had the obvious traction issues if planting my foot from standstill, especially in the wet, but you quickly learn how much to press the throttle if you want to maintain traction. And to be honest, the FWD TFSI suffers from wheelspin even when stock.
On the move there was no problems with traction though. I could be poodling along in 2nd at 5mph, plant my foot, and you'd only hear a slight chirp from the tyres sometimes, and other than that all power was put down no probs.

I was running Falkens FK452 tyres and they are good, but in my opinion their upper limit is around the stock power mark for a 2.0 TFSI. Before my remap they performed well, but after the remap I could feel I needed better tyres.

So in a nutshell, FWD handles the extra power from a remap comfortably, you've just got to adapt your driving style slightly to compliment the extra low down torque.

The drive to drop my car off for the part-ex with the stock map back on it was a boring one. The car felt sluggish and unresponsive compared to when it was remapped.

yea don't think I will be going down the stealer route at that price, and I don't know how much it would cost to get it painted either, that can be my job for tonight try and source one

again thanks to Both of you for your help :salute: might ask when the car goes in to get the front arch bubbles rubbed down and resprayed.

Yeh, I noticed this yesterday. I've been checking everyday to see if it'd gone as I've been scrimping and saving to try and get funds together.

I did think it would sell before I'd have chance to get it though, unfortunately :(
