I've had this urge to get an r32 lately dispite the fact it will be far slower AND more thirsty than my stage 2+ s3

I think this has stemmed from the fact that I get no aural pleasure from the s3 whatsoever and that the v6 sounds lush, problem is I think I would soon be bored of a 250bhp n/a engine.

Anyone had similar feelings to this before? I really need to listen to my head and not my heart but I'm finding the s3 far to clinical after coming from a tuned astra vxr nurburgring.

Can someone please give me reasons apart from what I've stated why an R32 would be a bad move :-/

Dont change it get rs4 injectors and stage 3 it ! Or exhaust system or bigger turbo it will kill then cars your have listed with more mods plus audi = quality !

Because if you buy the wrong year (i think its anything later than 56) your tax is almost double what the S3 is?

If you want something N/A what about an A3 3.2 as they are cheaper than R32. Or an M3?

Although I have too agree the v6 sounds amazing, Unless u've got big bucks too spend on the r32 then i wouldn't bother as u've already said you will get bored, also the tax is more expensive on the r32.
i would stick with the s3.

I agree, after thinking hard about it, yea the 3.2/R32 badge is cool and the sound is great ... but the 2.0TFSI is a better engine. Bags more potential power, cheaper etc etc etc.

Very glad I made that choice. Keep your S3 u boob.

Keep the s3 stage 2+ all day long ! ;)

Just don't do it!

The R32 is a great car,but so costly to get serious power out of.

Thanks guys, have any of you owned the 3.2 before? think I need to get myself an ultimate car sounds cd to play as I drive as I find the s3 engine exhaust note so dull.

What will an rs4 valve do for me?

Better spray pattern (rs4 value) id still keep the s3 :)

Drove r32 felt proper laggy had to rag it to get it moving from stand still but the s3 was amazing power delivery at standard, my tdi has more torque that r32 lol but whatever makes you happy pal

Rs4 injectors are not needed ,until you get a bt :)

I had 2 A3 3.2 dsg's before I got my S3 and even though I had it stage 1 mapped, I always missed the driveability and sound of the V6. I toyed with the idea of an R32 but I viewed it as a step down from the S3
I traded the S3 in for the R36 and don't regret it for one minute, I do think I'll be back in an S3 (dsg this time) but for now I have no complaints, even at £460 I had to pay for the road tax!

I swapped out a TT 3.2 for an S3 and haven't looked back.

Don't. Do. It.

Don't do it! I've had both the R32 and also had 2 S3's. The S3 is the better car and is more fun. I loved the R32 especially the noise but got bored really quickly and once your bored with it, there is nothing you can do to make it more exciting...

Decat and non res centre. That turns the sound of the s3 into a bit of an animal by all accounts!!

Has someone been talking about mine again?

We tried no rear box for a while but it was so loud it was getting complaints from the neighbours,so went back to a non res centre and its still throaty.

cheaper to buy them some ear plugs

They were about 100m away down the road!

WOT boxes are all very well but as you say, rely on a bit of mechanical sympathy if you don't want your transmission in bits.
The S3 gearbox and transfer case aren't the toughest in the world, and I haven't fitted one to mine for that reason.

Mine did have the miltek decat non res but I'm not into the sound it makes so I swapped for a res section, now it sounds similar to stock, a little louder, anyone know if the sports cat alters the sound much because I found the non res overly boomy

N/A engined cars like the R32, M3 etc will always be more engaging to drive than turbo charged cars imo. Not to say they're better but they are more of an event to drive.

I love the drive of a turbo car tbh, I like the rush of power when boost builds, it's purely an issue of sound for me, strangely every turbo four pot I've either owned or heard has sounded decent besides the tfsi.

Those wot box vids sound awesome, massive bangs!

They sound outrageous! As in an outrageous way to destroy your warranty and engine...
(I'll admit it sounds good but it's dodgy!)
