compromise on brake disc quality?

Hi All,

New brake discs and pads are on the agenda. What does the forum think about the diffrence that higher quality discs and pads make?

I have a Wilco motorsave just down the road and they are doing a 20% discount at the moment, I could spend a bit more at Europarts and a fair bit more at All German Parts with a corresponding increase in qualty.

So my question is: will I experience this change in quality when driving?

I personally wouldn't compromise on brakes, poor quality disks warp easily so are pretty much a false economy, and cheapo pads will glaze and crack and not stop the car effectively.
get a decent plain disk, no real need for cross drilled or grooved, probably by pagid and a good pad such as ds2500, or Mintex m1144,

Pagid rear discs from Euro car par parts come with an anti corrosion coating you fit them straight out of the box

If you google ecp discount codes there's nearly always a current one for 15-20% off if you buy online and there free postage

Car Parts for Less even cheaper than ECP for the same bits. It's where I got my Pagid discs and pads for the rears and I've been very pleased with them. Free postage as well and quick delivery.

Pads is more critical than the discs but stopping isn't something I would try and save a few quid on

Ive always just used whatever disks the motorfactor sells. Usually something like Apec, Delphi, Mintex or whatever.

As above pads are much more important. Ferodo premiers come highly recommended as a good performing road pad.

Only the ones without the ABS reluctor rings do in my experience......
The Pagid versions with the reluctor rings already installed come as poxy bare metal; wasn't happy recently when I had to install a set on my car.
