Hi, Just wondering if anyonw has had this, I know the rear wiper motors are prone to water getting into the internals then the internals of the tailgate etc etc.
About a week ago my wife said to me her rear washer had stopped working (2007 170 TDI 3 dr), reservoir was nearly full and I could hear the motor operating but nothng coming out the back, gave the jets a poke with a bit of wire and they seemed clear, started listening a bit more carefully and could hear the water coming out behind the panel beside the back seat, (off side) and when I pulled back the base of the seat I could see soapy water down the side. So didn't have time for further investegation until tonight, got the seat base out, panel off and the washer pipe is hard plastic corrugated stuff, taped with cloth tape to the wiring loom and it was leaking, bit more than a pinhole and not easy pipe to repair so I found some small bore metal pipe in the garage, cut the plasitic pipe at the leak, sleeved the metal inside and cable tied both ends, leak solved but did the washers work, No.
Further investegation, another pinhole leak further up the loom about 12 inches, this time I just cut the whole length out and replaced with rubber pipe but guess what, still no washers. So built up the interior again and in the process found water P'ing out the tailgate panel, removed and it's flooding out the wiper motor, starngely around this time it all actually started to work but once the wash cycle is finished the water seeps out of every orrfice of the motor for about the next 5 mns into teh inside of the tailgate and guess what, wipers are nowon permanantly, so I guess we need a new motor.
Not impressed, the washer pipe seems really poor quality and to tape it to the wiring loom which is now soaking seems like a really bad idea, worse actually is the whole leaking into the tailgate and various mechanisms in there but I have known about that since my old Mk4 Golf days, wouldn't it have made sense to rectify the old problem on the newer models, or is that just too simple, oh yeah that would have meant building in another money making fault somewhere else, Ok just don't bother Audi, cheers!
