Mark mentioned at the Edinburgh meet yesterday something about a potential karting thingymaboab happening soon. Think it was maybe Lesley he said was organising it, but dont quote me on that.... I didnt catch all the details..... can anyone ellaborate?

Who where what why when how much etc etc etc.....??
 
Yes I can but will need to phone Leslie to confirm all details. Its a grand prix so an all day affair over at Raceland. Price he said to me would be about 50 for the whole day. 19th of May I think is the date but will confirm that after I have spoken to him.

I mentioned this at the beginning of the year, didnt get much interest. So lets hope we do better this time. Mark, be prepared to get royally beaten, i take no prisoners when it comes to Karting. Its came on cuz:) x
 
Hi guys, sorry I didn't explain much yesterday as I was busy admiring all the cars😉! Anyway the date is booked on the 19th @ 1230pm. You'll need to arrive at 12pm to get kitted out. Itll be a 'Super grand prix' format on the outdoor circuit. Everyone will get 3 heats and 1 final. Grid position for the heats will be random while the position for the finals will depend on how well you have done during the heats. The cost for the event will be £55(weekend rate) but a deposit of £20 must be given asap to secure your place. More info of the track and location can be found on Raceland - Scotland's Only Indoor & Outdoor Karting Circuit. Please let me know if you need any more info. Cheers.

It's definately a goer... I bit the bullet and paid the deposit out of my own pocket to secure the date! I already have some karters but I thought to leave some spaces for ASN guys n gals. I think the best way is to send the deposit thru PayPal and the balance to be paid at the counter on the day.

Good stuff! Good on you for taking the leap and booking it, from past experience thats often the hardest part - getting a date that suits everyone and then getting them to part with cash.... can be a nightmare!!

I 'might' be able to round up a couple of non-ASN bodies if you need more folk.

Hmmmm......so tempted by this Leslie. Will let you know soon. Can anyone attend as Mrs.B is a legend on the karting track.

Sandra my dearest cuz.......you know me always willing to help the lesser mortals but actions speak louder than words my lady so you'll get yours on the track........challenge on possibly?

Well, currently ASN folks has the priority and hopefully more folks here would join in this karting event! Lets start a list for the people who is going. Go karting @ Raceland Edinburgh on the 19th MAY 2013 @ 1230 pm. Arrival at 12pm to get kitted out. Price £55 PP with £20 deposit to be paid thru PayPal. Cheers.

Well I was hoping for a better response as well. If the response doesn't pick up by next week then I think we need to go to plan B... :uhm:
 
I dont think Plan B would involve changing the date Mark, as Leslie's already booked the 19th and parted with a deposit out of his own pocket to secure that date.

I think it'll go ahead on the 19th one way or another, but Plan B will most likely involve opening it up to folk outwith the club to make up the numbers.
How many folk have you got in total Leslie? If I remember right, you need a minimum of 16 for these things....
Is Sandra still coming to beat everyone??

Yep Erik is right. The date is confirmed on the 19th as the deposit has been paid. As much as I would have liked to leave spaces for ASN members, but I would have to open it up to non members to make up the remaining numbers needed. Perhaps it is the wrong time or other factors that ASN members are not joining.:shrug:

Actually there is a minimum event cost and it is divided by the number of karters. Worst case situation will be me and Erik racing each other. :beerchug:
 
Leslie just open it up to your Honda group guys then you can have Audi Vs Jap stuff on the track.....might be a laugh. I know the date isn't moveable guys so when it comes around again then I will be there.

Leslie - is that a few spaces left in total, or a few spaces before we've got the minimum needed?

i.e - do you still need me to hunt for more bodies lol?! There's a couple of other folk I could ask, but if we've got the minimum now, i'll not need to :)
 
Just a wee thanks to Leslie for organising this - even if there were no other takers other than me and him from Audi Sport, a good day was had by all...... And blimey, he's quick!!
 
That's not a problem at all. Glad you and your mates enjoy the day. You're not too bad yourself and got a clean getaway in the finals at the first hairpin. I was only lucky that the back markers were slowing you down if not I wouldn't be able to catch you at all.

Hopefully there would be another chance to organise another outdoor Karting session in the near future!!
 
Haha yeah I did suffer a lot in the back markers, seemed to come across them at the worst possible moments.

Having said that, even ignoring that, I think you'd have caught and passed me regardless!! :)
