Hi guys,

Just a quick question, was there a certain year where the S3's came out with a rolled/flat rear lip?

I have looked at 4 S3's now all with a flat rolled lip from factory where as my 2001 Model has a lip that is going to chew my new wider wheels.

pics so we can see what you mean?
This is the stock lip one mine, all the others were rolled flat.

thats something ive never ever noticed, or even seen mentioned.
i cant remember what mine look like. yours do seem to stick inward though, rather than folded up.

Yeah every other S3 ive had a look at has the lip rolled inwards/upwards.

I'm going out in my motor on my lunch in about an hour so I'll go and have a check, but i seem to remember them being rolled upwards on mine and not stick inwards on my pre-facelift 2000 APY model

I have mine to bits the other day, Mine is a 2000 model and has a rolled lip as standard

Its plausible its had a repair and a new rear quarter... is the other side the same? from memory mine are rolled...

<tuffty/>

Both sides are exactly the same Paul, I know the car was painted on the left side before but no repair was done the the rear panels.

Mine are also rolled flat. Annoyingly though, the plastic liner has a small plastic ridge/bump area that sticks in the wheel area ~10mm or so. Still, I've not had issues with ET20 9" rims with 245s and sitting low-ish.

Just checked mine and it's rolled up/flat

Looking at yours it looks as though it just hasn't been rolled up and even looks a bit sharp and unfinished.

surely location is also the reason behind this?

Different continent, car potentially made elsewhere to others, different finishing practises....

mines a 52plate, and has aches like the 1 pictured...... haha I joke, it has rolled flat arches  like mentioned, ive never seen 1 like that before..

All the S3's I have personally had a look at were right here in SA, so cant see how that is possible.

With everything else S3? Highly doubt that lol

Unless you owned the car from day 1...there is always the possibility that they could have been replaced with the incorrect rear quarters if it was in an unrecorded accident

Id they were A3 quarters they would have been narrower, not so?

Maybe the panel was an ebay special job and not an OEM part?

I'm just guessing tbh, and by the sounds of things no one in this thread has the same rear fender lip as you have - somethings definitely not quiet right and I would be very surprised if Audi would have let that leave there factory like that when new.
