Have heard from a friend who just ordered a A3, that the MY13 order book is now full. MY14 orders open in a couple of weeks so delivery slots aren't yet allocatable.

It would depend on the garage - each garage is allocated a certain number of build slots. From reading other threads on here it appears that perhaps S-line allocations have generally been snapped up already.

Ah, thanks. He went for an S Line so that makes sense.

I heard due to high demand Audi are going to open another production line purely for the a3 8v!

I was also told this and they said with model s-line 2.0 it could hurry it along! Expected June ish but they say could be April/ may if the above happens! Which would be fab as I go to France in June and would love the new car for this journey!

That would Indeed be good news, I didn't want to feel left out so put an order in myself yesterday, too :).

Mate went for the tech pack but I went for the comfort pack and most of the driver assist aids (ACC, active lane, park assist) I'll use my phone as a tech pack substitute ;) SLine 1.4

So what in reality does this actually mean ? For instance,I'll be hopefully ordering my A3 SB S-Line before the end of April. Does this still mean ill be ok for a late 2013 delivery (sept to Nov) or 2014 ?

Possibly good news........... But not going to effect anyone told delivery date before end of may so won't speed up my or other current orders but new orders won't take as long :-(

Mine went in 2-3 weeks ago they said keep in your mind June but shouldn't take that long could be may or even late April!

I was told 1st June for a Sport but ~August for SLine. Hopefully the latter will now be a little sooner

Like somebody said it will vary from dealer to dealer due to them all having an allocated number!

I guess if the order books aren't full already they may well be by the 28/02/13 after which the £495 sat nav option becomes chargeable along with the tech pack discount, going from £1000 to £1495..ouch! I will be placing my order mid week to avoid this additional cost, (my dealer still has build slots available) just learnt today the Audi Connect will be available on the MY14 orders however the article (German mag) did suggest an additional cost of 500euros..think I'll stick to my Iphone for Facebook and Google Maps!!

When do Audi normally make the production transition to the new Model Year (MY)

My dealer told me there were supply problem with certain components - Xenons for one so that certain versions / options could have extended delivery.
Week 22 build is usual transition to next MY I believe.
Expect new brochure 1 April or thereabouts.

I'm really new to the technical side of cars and the finer points of ordering new - could someone please explain what exactly you mean when you say that the MY13 book is closed? I'm inferring from the context at the moment, but I'd appreciate hearing it from someone who actually knows. Ta!

I recently ordered the 2.0 TDI S-Line model but had a message from the supplier saying my order has been moved to MY2014. Expected delivery is now Nov 2013.

On the other hand was told MY2014 will have DAB as standard, anyone know what else will be improved/changed?

November?! Holy hell, that's a bit of a wait.

Are you kiddin' ??

November for an A3 !!

7 month wait seems incredible for a car in this sector ... are people really prepared to wait THAT long for an A3 ?

Audi must be rubbing thier hands if so.

:wtf:

Either buy from stock or none at all for me. I could not wait that long.

It makes you wonder how many orders Audi are losing from people who just aren't prepared to wait and end up going elsewhere

Hi johntheman, As I have been informed Audi have indicated that although DAB will be standard there will be a corresponding retail price increase in the pipeline. No such thing as a free lunch. Has your dealer confirmed that you will not have to pay any price hikes. It will be interesting to know what he says about this and whether he knows what the price increase will be on the A3/A3 Sportback for subsequent MY14 orders. I am waiting for the 184ps TDi to come available to place my order. Will mine be Jan 2015 delivery? Heaven forbid.

My S -line 2.0 TDI (spec below) was ordered mid March and I have been given a Mid July build (delivery mid August but taking on 1st Sept on a 63 plate) and dealer has confirmed I get DAB and anything else added to MY2014 with no additional cost.

Just checking the Audi website and pricing/CO2 section for the A3/ A3 SB has no info on it so expect the new prices to be imminent maybe tomorrow (1st May) although current prices still display in the configurator I expect something in the region of a 3 -4% price hike given the popularity and delivery times and DAB alone equates to around 1.5% of cost on a 1.4 TFSI SE base model

Audi site is same as it has been for the last month or 2 ... no change ???

A3 and A3 SB prices are listed.

Just S3 variants which are £ tbc which has been the case for weeks.

Good luck to Audi if they put prices up AND don't address the long lead delivery situation.

I agree they must be losing orders for A3's if they are quoting delivery times of 7 months ... I also aint prepared to wait that long either !

I'm in the process of ordering a SB which is going to be MY14. I've been given no indication of a price increase. £305 for DAB is less than the free nav offer they had.

I suspect the only real change to standard specification is DAB. There may well be changes to options though. For example I expect Audi Magnetic Ride to become available for ~£950.

We'll probably find out all tomorrow.

Well the dealer told me that since I had ordered MY2013 the quote had included the optional DAB i had requested so was told I will get a reduction to the MY2014 as its now standard. They probably just said this because I was fuming after being initially told delivery will be in 3 months.

The heart wants what the heart wants so I will just have to wait.

It's quite ironic in a way; Audi were offering free sat nav for pre–orders on the SB up until Feb to apologise for the 'long wait'. I pre–ordered in November and took delivery mid March, 4 months total. Yet now the wait is approaching 7 months in what is supposedly a fully operational production run, and prices seem to be going up! Madness. :banghead:
