Ok, so my next plans for the car are going to be the S2000 paper filter but I also purchased a 4'' cold air feed pipe which I saw on Tufty's minor modding thread but I am struggling to see how the hell he fitted it and where it was routed.

When doing my rebuild, i offered up the pipe where I think it would go (alongside battery tray/inner wing) but it looks mahoosive and impossible to fit.

I know it won't make a massive difference in terms of performance but it seems a waste to not fit it, especially now the SMIC's have gone :) Any guidance (with loads of pics) would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Shaun.

There was a threa on this a few weeks back. Have a little play with the search button fella.

Personally I foun mine a waste of time so rippe it out. Much more beneficial on an NA engine then a turbo charged one was the general opinion.

I just routed it down the side of the battery and fixed it just above the opening to the bumper space... no room to get it down there with my setup but seemed to work and pick up cooler air...

EssThree did this to his and sent me pics ages ago but lost them since... it 'can' be done but was happy enough with the effect it gave at the time..

I don't use the stuff currently (due to filter size) but plan to fix something going from the lower grille to point up in the general direction of the filter

I did try a couple of searches but nothing came up. Think my search could have been too specific.

I'm not expecting any gains from it really, but a little more cold air directed at the filter won't do it any harm i suppose...

Did you have to crimp it down to get it past the battery tray then? It looks a very tight fit :/

Good job I know where everything is in my build thread :)

...click here for 4" cold air intake shizzle...

tuffty, you are a LEG-END! Thank you matey!

Ok, so in terms of fitting an S2000 OEM paper cone filter, i would also like to follow your route of modding the standard airbox to retain the OEM appeal.

Do we know if the S2000 filter is bigger than the Jetex that you had fitted to yours? i.e. is it doable?

Never measured one mate... base of the Jetex is 175mm and its 170mm long

Sounds like abit of investigation is required :)

Sorry to be a pain, but do you mind picking out your air-box butchering post in your modding thread for me too?

Dude, you have like 10 million pages in your 'minor modding thread' a little ironic really.....minor but millions of pages for major mods :)

Well... if like everyone else you looked in the stickies (that was actual sarcasm btw ;P) you may spot that due to the number of times I have been asked I bunged it in the FAQ section.... under performance enhancements... and its on the first page too
