I'm in Bolton but work in Manchester. I do motorway miles so I don't want something that drones and does my brains in! Nor do I want to boy racers brrrrawwwwwwww change gear pppppppppsssssssttttt brawwwwwwwww sound! Hahaha I think I am goon loopy this morning :s

Resonated is just tad louder and raspier when you put your foot down and gives little more bass on idle.

I think you meant non-res is louder!
I went resonated for the same reasons as bo (lots of motorway miles).

no i have resonated and its defo louder but only when you hammer it or on idle gives nice note. Something that you notice but its not like in your face

You're saying that resonated is louder than OEM.
I thought you were saying that resonated is louder than non-res.

I went NON-res cat back and was the correct choice my biggest concern is i wanted to have a conversation at 3000 rpm and this is perfect. but gives the smile when you boot it.
there is still the cats and the weird split pipe silencer present so will be interesting to see what it is like once i get my sports cat.

i had non- res decat and it was so boomy, and imo sounded awful, its not big bore nova loud but on full chat it is! i changed to resonated and i prefer this, subtle sound difference. you really need to hear them as its all opinion based
It's all about what you prefer. I suppose if I drove mine everyday for work I'd of gone resonated full system. But as I have a company car for week day use, my s3 is just a toy for the weekends, so I went non res full system. All I can say is what a noise!! I love it. Only problem is, I just want to boot it all the time and with stage2+ you reach high speeds rather too quick! 
The problem you've got is that what you'll hear from a recording doesn't sound quite like what it does in the flesh. If you still want to listen there's a thing called YouTube... Loads on there
thanks and yes i did search it on youtube but not many resonated ones vs non res ones to be honest and mostly are on R32's and RS4's not many audi's on there from my search... im just torn between them both as i dont want it to be loud when cruising , it being evil on boost is not a problem for me but otherwise a deeper tone is okay under normal acceleration
Mine was fine with cat back non res. Even on the motorway. Since the down pipe had been fitted it does drone, but adding pressure the the right foot soon solves it. Haha. And as I've said I use mine on the weekend, so motorways aren't even involved.
I can provide a clip of startup with non res and one with res as I've had both but haven't got a clip driving
