Hi All, My S3 is currently standard, have heard that Stage 1 not only improves the cars driveability & fun factor but can also improve the fuel economy as its pretty bad! Was after peoples experience of stage 1, both fuel wise & driveability? Thanks

For what it's worth,you will see better economy if you drive sensibly as you can use the extra torque rather than having to push the engine harder.
If you use the extra power though it may drop.
Driven into work every day mine still does around 28-32mpg which is pretty good for a 500 bhp car.
At Stg1 it would easily top 32mpg overall.

Improves it all over IMO. Fuel is more or less the same. Can be better on longer runs. I only noticed a fuel difference when I went stage 2+ and fit the FMIC but that may be due to the cold winter we have had, who knows. Wouldn't see as many miles to the tank anymore but still hitting around 300!
In reality, your not going to see a gain in fuel economy. The reason being that now you've got more power, your going to want to use it.
If you are just chugging along for a mile or so, great you've done about 3 mpg more, that still doesnt account for the fact the previous 3 miles you were using all 300 horses and burning more fuel......
As long as the right people map it, and its a progressive map, then your going to experience a pleasant drive, just dont go for a map thats aggressive, else you'll feel like your in an Mitsubishi Evo waiting for the turbo to spool, then BAMMMM, the power all comes at once.
Unless ofcourse that is your thing, but clutch wise, that is suicide.

Better driveability and experience, and you'll see a rise in MPG under NORMAL driving conditions especially on longer runs. As said before its all relative to how you drive it and seeing as you know you have that extra ooomph then you may never see an increase.
My MPG has gone s**t since revo st1 remap. This is due to my lead right boot now - the car is so much more responsive and fun to drive I cant help getting on boost when road conditions allow. A performance remap may well improve your cars efficiency but unless you are a nun you'll never actually see it in the mpg figures.

I'm on the same boat as NKenny.. I've had stage 1 on my car for two or so months.
Didn't really note my MPG before the remap but as of now:
Combined: 20MPG
Motorway: 30MPG
Haven't had any improvements as I find I'm driving with a lot more 'enthusiasm' lol

My fuel economy improved slightly after my remap, but as the other posters above said - if you use the extra power then it will adversely affect your MPG. Fairly easy to get 32-34MPG on a longer run at stage1 - have seen it as high at 39MPG a couple of times though.
My long term average at stage 1 has been around 27mpg. On a typical motorway run my car gets about 32mpg and at a snails pace I've seen 38.5mpg.
Maybe see if any custom maps can give you switchable maps if your after higher mpg, one of which is an Eco style map,

63.4mpg is my best on stage 1, but mines a derv lol.
Happens in every thread about S3s, is it something to do with owning a diesel? Must find all threads about petrol engines and post your tractors your fuel economy.
